About this listen
Jack "Rattler" Owen is a navy pilot on a combat deployment struggling with life at sea. If dealing with separation from his family, the constant grind of shipboard life, and malfunctions in the E-2C Hawkeye weren't enough, it now seems that someone is out to get him. As he tries to navigate his time on the aircraft carrier, he realizes that things are not adding up in his squadron. Rattler is faced with having to choose between the safe path and the path that could end his career - or even his life - but expose the leadership that is willing to stop at nothing to benefit their own agenda.

For a moment Wilson froze and looked at the white-helmeted pilot who sat high on the nose of the colossal fighter. Across the small void, he saw the pilot's eyes peer over his mask. Dark, chilling eyes. Wilson kicked right rudder to slide closer and jam any chance for a bandit gunshot. When the bandit pulled all the way over, almost on its back but in control, he cursed in frustration at what he knew was coming next.

The training to become a fighter pilot is among the most competitive and difficult in the world with less than one-in-a-thousand succeeding. Pushing a cutting-edge jet to its limits at over 1,000 mph means that every split-second decision can have catastrophic consequences. This extreme environment has forged a group of warriors who for the last 50 years have been considered at the apex of decision-making theory and practice. In The Art of Clear Thinking Hasard Lee distills what he’s learned during his career flying some of the Air Force’s most advanced aircraft.

The Real Deal
Mr. Matson and his book are the "real deal" . . . . I am one of the lucky few that have been both a naval aviator AND a student of Mr. Matson on the Airbus A-320 at a major airline. His work is a "Master's Class" in the art of incorporating real life and the jargon of a naval squadron with a fictitious "real world" scenario. During my active duty and reserve flying in the navy, I had the opportunity to fly many aircraft but I will always have an affinity for the Hawkeye . . . . it is a special aircraft that is crewed by a very special group of people. A great read! Looking forward to the next book!

I can Honestly say this audio book was outstanding. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I never thought a naval aviation story with an E-2 as the main character would be as entertaining and action packed as it was. T R Matson knocked it out of the park with this one and I cant wait to see what his next book will bring!

Great writing with a fresh story
Treason Flight gives us carrier aviation me the military suspense / thriller from an all new prospective. I really appreciate the level of detail that Wombat used to describe the the E-2 Hawkeye, various other aircraft and their operations. I never felt I needed a degree or a subscription to Jane’s Defense Weekly to understand the book.
Some people have mentioned there being a few corny things in the book. There are a couple but it’s a book and they all typically have some sprinkled throughout.
Mike Dawson did a great job, easy to listen to.

The story is well done, the pace is captivating, and the reading is brilliant! The author perfectly captured the highs and lows, thrills and chills, and camaraderie of shipboard and port-call life in an air wing squadron. A fun read and well worth the time. *** SORT AROUND THIS, AN ABSOLUTE MUST SELECT! ***

A breath of fresh air
Off the back of trying to get through the Punk series, this was an exhilarating story. I never thought of E2 pilots as interesting but my mind was changed after the first few chapters.
The main character could have used a little stumbling rather than always being superman, but the narrative did a good job of keeping me interested and rooting for him regardless.
The central mystery could have used another small clue early on, before the main character was directly told something was happening.
The narrator makes the Australian women sound like Jason Statham, which was both confusing and arousing.
