About this listen

Salud to Spain and my ancestors, both left behind in Spain and in America who make me feel blessed. Stepping back in time was an exciting journey for me where I followed my ancestor’s pilgrimage route through Spain. I gathered Spanish threads of my genealogy and shared the bliss. A labor of discovery and passion, TOUCHING SPANISH SOIL reveals where my DNA awakened, where Spaniards embraced tradition and culture became real. And where the Tortilla Española is perfect. I found two sides of my family tree and it’s an ongoing process. But the romance, charm, amazement and sparkle of finding one’s ancestors…well, there are just no words.
During our journey, my brother Steven and I poked into history to flesh out our family’s Spanish ghosts. And along the way, I visited gardens, churches, an Arab castle, a flamenco museum, walked around the fortress. I admired the view, explored the narrow, winding streets of the old town wandered around the cathedral, saw the Roman theater; by the end I loved every inch of Spain. We ate tapas in crowded street bars and fish in chiringuitos on the beach. We drank sangria at lunch time and robust red wine in the evening. At night, we walked through the parks and listened to street entertainers, letting their music waft through our souls. And I´m still smiling.
