About this listen
Solitary confinement, mental and physical torture, extreme hunger and bitter cold—these were the daily realities for Pastor Richard Wurmbrand during his combined 14 years of imprisonment in Communist Romania. Richard's crime, like that of thousands of others, was his fervent faith in Jesus Christ and his outspoken witness to the grace and love of God. In Tortured for Christ, Richard shares the inspiring story of his faithful discipleship amid Communist oppression and his powerful witness of Christ's love and forgiveness even before his persecutors.
Known as "the book that shocked the world," Tortured for Christ is a timeless, bestselling account of courageous faith, unbelievable endurance, and inspiring forgiveness that continues to encourage new generations of Christians.

Story
Richard Wurmbrand spent three years in solitary confinement during his 14-year imprisonment in Communist Romania. In The Answer to the Atheist's Handbook, conceived during his solitary confinement, Wurmbrand challenges the arguments for atheism as proposed by the Soviet Academy of Science's Atheist's Handbook. Throughout the Communist world, the teachings of the Atheist's Handbook held supreme authority. But Wurmbrand demonstrates that the atheistic worldview leaves more questions unanswered than it settles.

Story
Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman. Even some Christians, swayed by the LGBTQ+ movement, have rejected God’s word on issues of sexuality and gender in favor of popular opinion. In light of these pressures, it’s more important than ever to help women see the truth about who God created them to be. In this powerful book, Rosaria Butterfield uses Scripture to confront 5 common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty often promoted in our secular culture today.

If God is holy, then he can’t sin. If God can’t sin, then he can’t sin against you. If he can’t sin against you, shouldn’t that make him the most trustworthy being there is? Best-selling author Jackie Hill Perry, in her much anticipated follow-up to Gay Girl, Good God, helps us find the reason we don’t trust God - we misunderstand his holiness. In Holier Than Thou, Jackie walks us through Scripture, shaking the dust off of “holy” as we’ve come to know it and revealing it for what it really is: good news.

One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

Story
Two decades after the publication of The Black Book of Communism, nearly everyone is or at least should be aware of the immense evil produced by that devilish ideology first hatched when Karl Marx penned his Communist Manifesto two centuries ago. Far too many people, however, separate Marx the man from the evils wrought by the oppressive ideology and theory that bears his name.

A spiritual biography of the "father of modern missions," Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret poses the question: What empowered Hudson Taylor's ministry in China? The answer: a fierce faith that believed God truly would fulfill the promises in His Word. Written by the missionary statesman's son and daughter-in-law, this book is intended for Christians who "need and long for just the inward joy and power that Hudson Taylor found."

Story
Karl Marx, coauthor of the revolutionary text The Communist Manifesto, grew up in a Christian family, and his early writings showed belief in a Christian worldview. Yet in his adulthood, Marx embraced a deep personal rebellion against God and all Christian values. In Karl Marx and the Satanic Roots of Communism, Richard Wurmbrand explores the development of Marx’s antireligious perspective that led to the philosophical foundations of communism.

The Christian life around the world
I found this a very comforting book regarding the beauty and strength/power of God even in the darkest places. I was especially moved by the Christians in this book saying to communists: your greatest need is Christ.

Must read
This book is made me realize how easy our lives are in America. How easiel it is for is not to forgive the little things and this Christians forgave so much. I need to learn how to live like this. These people are real Christians. If the church here in America would be so bold. Think about it we could turn this nation back to Christ.

Life changing perspective
Wow
Even in fiction, you don't hear stories like this. One of the most important, life changing and important books ever written.
I think this should be required reading.
Every believer should definitely read this but non believers too; these first hand accounts are invaluable. Unbelievable but true.
I will never be the same after reading this. And I'm glad for it.

The fight continues
Great book of the attempts to suppress Christianity through torture. Today Christian enemies seek not to suppress but to subvert Christianity. Leftist activist C kendi declares Christianity white supreme isnt and only a Christianity that is practiced through a lense of black liberation theology is acceptable . Democrat senator and pastor Ralph Warnick preaches that Christ would bless abortions and declared that Easter transcends Christ as it shows us when we care for each other we can save ourselves… sacrilege
On the right Glen beck tells us Christians exist to serve Judaism . A report was released today that said saying Christ is king is antisemitic. The report had 13 authors.9 Jews,2 undeclared Indians,1 agnostic who denies Christs divinity and 1 reverend who sits on the ADL boards. ADL is a Christophobic and racist group. Laws were past that said implying it was Hews who crucified Christ is a hate crime. When it was pointed out to speaker Johnson that this would make some Bible passages hate speech he just laughed it off.
We are blessed to not be physically tortured but to speak honestly about Christ and his teachings in the USA means possible job termination, custody loss, public ridicule and possible arrest… the fight continues

Must read!
This book tells the story of communist persecution towards Christians in Romania. Richard Wurmbrand tells of his experience in prison and working with the underground church.
This book is a must read. You will feel so heartbroken for persecuted Christians and praise God for the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Standing firm in truth at all cost.
brings a realization of what communism really is. Evil, ungodly, and destroies life and freedom. makes you question how to change it. christian men must stand firm and fight back at all cost? or continue to be jailed beaten and left to rot? whats more God honoring? this book does show how the Russian man is just as open to Christ as an average American. they arent just ruthless scum.

Incredible stories on how to love those who persecute you. Very sobering to say the least.
