About this listen
From successful parents, learn how to train up your children rather than discipline them. With humor and real-life examples, this book shows you how to train your children before the need to discipline arises. Be done with corrective discipline; make them allies rather than adversaries. The stress will be gone, and your obedient children will praise you and bring joy and peace into your home. Thousands have testified to the amazing results of these profoundly simple techniques.
This book is not about discipline nor problematic children. The emphasis is on the training of a child before the need to discipline arises. It is apparent that though they expect obedience, most parents never attempt to train their child to obey. They wait until his behavior becomes unbearable and then explode.
With proper training, discipline can be reduced to five percent of what many now practice. As you come to understand the difference between training and discipline, you will have a renewed vision for your family - no more raised voices, no contention, no bad attitudes, fewer spankings, a cheerful atmosphere in the home, and total obedience from your children.

Story
In the beginning - before the first man was created, before the earth, the sun, the stars, even before light and time were created, there was God. He alone existed without beginning, but he was not alone. He communed with himself in harmonious love. But god wanted to share his life. He wanted friends and neighbors. The Bible tells us God created numerous kinds of angelic beings to offer praise around his throne. But this is not their story. This is the story of God working with mankind.

Cracking the communication code between husband and wife involves understanding one thing: that unconditional respect is as powerful for him as unconditional love is for her. It's the secret to marriage that every couple seeks, and yet few couples ever find. While both men and women deserve both love and respect, in the midst of conflict the driving need for a woman is love and the driving need for a man is respect. When either of these needs isn’t met, things get crazy. Based on over three decades of counseling, as well as scientific and biblical research, Love and Respect is for anyone.

Story
Modern parents are stressed out and tired. They’ve tried countless parenting books, many of which are harsh, fear-based books that loving parents instinctively reject. As Christians, we frequently believe that the battle for a child's heart and soul is fought on the outside with rigid rules, when in fact the opposite is true. Rejecting rigidity and checklists that don't work, Dr. Kimmel recommends a parenting style that is the opposite, emphasizing the importance of communicating the unconditional love that Christ offers and affirming this timeless message of grace to one's family.

Story
Modern women - who use psychotherapeutic antidepressants at a rate never before seen in history - need liberating now more than ever. The truth is, feminists don't know what liberation is. They have led us into a very boring dead end. Once those fictionalized stereotypes are out of the way - whether they're things that make you gag or things you think look pretty fun - Christians can focus on real women. What did God make real women for?

Phenomenal book!
I cannot recommend this book enough. Michael and Debi Pearl offer sound, biblical advice in all of their marriage and parenting books. The advice is very straight forward. Michael Pearl does not dance around topics like discipline, but instead gives blunt, sound advice on biblically training up a child. Highly recommend.

So much wisdom in child training
I was amazed at the amount of hate this book gets. I’m not sure if many of the people commenting how horrible this book is, have actually read it. Nowhere does it condone abuse, it actually highly discourages it and advises parents to not train a child in anger. It also says to not train a child if you only plan on doing it halfhearted because it will have no outcome and that will actually be abusive. You need to do it right and be persistent. I think many of the people against this book are probably indoctrinated by the “gentle parenting” ideology, that when they hear the word “training” or “obedience” they automatically think abuse which is quite alarming. An obedient child is a delight to be around but a brat that gets their way all the time or has their parents trained is shameful and a torment to be around. I’ve seen both sides of parenting and I choose to stick with the one that raises obedient and delightful children. If you’re looking to raise children like that then you will get a lot of wisdom from this book. If you want to gentle parent than this is not the book and good luck on dealing with a little brat.
