Story
From the best-selling author of the Sandman Slim series, a lush, dark, stand-alone fantasy built off the insurgent tradition of China Mieville and M. John Harrison - a subversive tale that immerses us in a world where the extremes of bleakness and beauty exist together in dangerous harmony in a city on the edge of civility and chaos. The Great War is over. The city of Lower Proszawa celebrates the peace with a decadence and carefree spirit as intense as the war’s horrifying despair.

Story
In the near future of Robert Charles Wilson's Last Year, the technology exists to open doorways into the past - but not our past, not exactly. Each "past" is effectively an alternate world, identical to ours but only up to the date on which we access it. And a given "past" can be reached only once. After a passageway is open, it's the only road to that particular past; once closed, it can't be reopened.

Decent Plot
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Minnich does a great job at world building, especially for a steampunk novel which can be extremely taxing. I'm a huge fan of the genre in general. My trouble with this book was getting into the characters; I just wasn't a fan of them. There wasn't anything compelling enough about them to keep my attention or cheer for them. The writing was wonderful, though, and I will definitely give other books written by Minnich a listen/read.
However, I can't deal with the narrator. It sounded like someone reading a book aloud for the first time. From other reviews, it seems like I might be biased having listened to some awesome narrators recently, but I try to remain impartial from one book to the next. I wound up turning on CC on my phone and "reading" it.

The narration and writing drew me into the story. The author does a wonderful job of building such a detailed world despite the relatively short length of the story. I look forward to reading/listening to more from this author.

Wonderful sci-fi with great morals
*I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.*
This is a 4.3 for me.
It took me a while to get into the story but, once it drew mee in, I was hooked.
This sci-fi includes political issues that end up being racial given that the few people in power will try to pull the string to their side. It perfectly depicts how politics do affect every member of the population and how important it is to stand for your ideals.
Ingenious and perfectly relatable, it transported me to another time in history and establishes a clear point: all big changes start with just one person not taking a step back.
Highly recommended.

a wonderful steampunk Sci-Fi world at war
tiboluminator is an absolutely fantastic adventure, with elements of political intrigue and mystery. It carries with it the duty to be like Sci-fi of old. it is very obvious Reid Minnich spent a lot of time thinking of the correct "techno-babble" so the fantasy science at work appears real.
give this book a listen if you enjoy female protagonists, steampunk, political intrigue, or Sci-Fi.

Neat story
Reid Minnich’s steampunk novel takes you a short adventure filled with airships, science, love and secrets. It’s a unique world perspective we don’t see much in today’s stories, where the westerners are not the heroes or the dominant society. I found that quite refreshing.
Narrator, Kevin Harding, was a fine narrator. The overall narration sounded “canned” at first, but you forget it as you listen.
Overall a decent story.

I wasn't a huge fan of the characters
The world building was really good, but I found myself getting annoyed at the characters. Overall it was a good listen, and a good story but it fell flat to me.
