About this listen

Ever wondered what happened to your first love? Imagine bumping into them 12 years later and realizing you still fancy them rotten. That's exactly what happens to Dig Ryan when he sees Delilah again.

Now imagine you're Nadine. You and Dig have been best friends for 15 years. And you've finally realized that you're in love with him. So when Delilah - who was always your nemesis - returns, you're mad with jealousy and can't help behaving childishly...like phoning Phil just to get your own first love back....

Thirtynothing is a story of ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, and friends dabbling with yesterday when they should really be thinking about today.

What listeners say about Thirtynothing

Highly rated for:

The Story Follows The Lives And Relationships Of A Few Central Characters Over Several Decades, Exploring Themes Of Friendship, Love, Self-discovery, And Coming-of-age. Many Reviewers Found The Storyline Engaging And The Characters Relatable, With Entertaining Twists And Heartwarming, Humorous Moments. However, Some Felt The Beginning Was Slow To Get Going, The Plot Became Predictable, And There Were Excessive Details That Dragged The Narrative. The Ending Also Left Some Unsatisfied. Overall, It's A Character-driven Story About The Complexities Of Human Connections And Personal Growth.

One of Lisa Jewell’s BEST! Heartwarming!

Really wonderful characters. Fantastic writing. Very uplifting. Perfect distraction, deeply immersive story. Loved it! One tiny point on ending re 4P last pages- and that’s all I’ll say. Could’ve tied a bow around that IMO. Teeny detail.

Did not age well.

Some of the phrasing and themes used in this story may have been acceptable ~25 years ago but I found them kind of offensive.

Relaxing story

A very good story and so well written, you figured it out right away but the twists and turns were a entertaining journey

Loved the Story but Sloppy Editing

I enjoyed this story and love Helen's Duff narration but in 10 years of listening to audio books I have never heard such glaring mistakes - there is one time when the narrator repeats a sentence and both takes are there. Another time you hear her randomly say but....but...but... both times I backed up thinking my phone glitched or something but they were both there - very odd and distracting. I think those should have been caught in editing

Enjoyable Rainy Day Read

Relatable characters and not much suspense, but a good rainy day read (or listen). The story was fairly predictable, but still kept my interest. It's not my favorite Lisa Jewel novel but certainly not a waste of a credit.. There were only three main characters so not a lot of plot intacacies to keep track of which made it a good listen while doing my weekend tidying up. Helen Duff as narrator was lovely as always.

Lisa Jewell is a gem

This was another great book by Lisa Jewell. I enjoy the choice of narrator as always. My only only complaint is a tiny one: sometimes the S sound is very harsh lol maybe it’s just my picky
ears lol. But I think the narrator has an uncanny ability to sound like an entirely different person when she changes her voice the pitch and tone of her voice… It’s really remarkable. It adds to the narration of the story so tremendously making what’s a really good story even better.
