About this listen

In Metairie, Louisiana, a young woman revels in the solitary exercise that is riding in an elevator, as across town, a father attempts to pedal his way back into his childhood via a late-night bike ride in his quiet suburban neighborhood. Meanwhile, a young executive climbs the corporate ladder through the strangest of mind-bending means as just moments earlier, a lonely man awakens in his car to the fact that he may have the latent impulses and instincts of a serial killer. If only they knew just how interconnected their seemingly different timelines will become. The Zen of Elevator Travel is an exploration of timelines, a sweeping collection of ten stories to be listened to as a piece of extended fiction or individually, as a set of collective fateful brushstrokes.

The characters! The range of characters!

I throughly enjoyed listening to this audible and the surprises that showed up along the way. Very well written with such a creative imagination on imagining more than I would have asked for. The narrator’s accent on locals in the New Orleans area was on point! It brought the book to life in ways a Native could understand. I’m excited to see what the author has next in store!

A tale to revisit

Ted Torres has a knack of writing characters that you are already familiar with. Your neighbors. Your friends. Your coworkers. You know these people already. So when you read this story, you’re already in the shared universe. These stories are easy to digest and will keep you on the edge of your seat. 5 stars. Like and subscribe.

Like a fever dream!

there was nothing about this book I didn't like! being from New Orleans and visualizing the areas described made it so immersive. the way it all connected was a twist I didn't expect. the stories were like a fever dream that I couldn't put down. I look forward to more from Ted Torres

what a ride

These short stories connected to make one hell of an interesting novel. I loved how each story could stand alone while also intertwining with the others in fun (and not so fun) ways. Also loved the Metairie/Harahan rep too! Definitely helped immerse me in the narrative. Great work to both author and narrator!
