Story
An exploration of identity and faith, Seeing through the Fog invites listeners to a vibrant life, an expectant life, a life of joy in each new morning. Pastor Ed Dobson has spent his life preaching sermons, but this book is not a sermon. He has spent more than 10 years with a debilitating illness, but this book is not about grief. He has found joy in the midst of sorrow, but this book is not about looking on the bright side. Seeing through the Fog is about living well when you realize you can’t live forever.

Only two in 10 Americans under 30 believe attending a church is important or worthwhile. Well over half of young adults raised in the Church have dropped out, with many having a strong anti-Church stance, many even believing the Church does more harm than good. Fr. Josh Johnson was one of these people. In Broken and Blessed, he tackles the harsh realities facing the Church in the 21st century.

Story
The Son of God was crucified, died and buried, and He lay in the tomb for three days—until He walked out shining like the sun. In a culture in which history is erased or rewritten at will, the existence of an empty tomb matters. Why? Because if the tomb is empty—then anything is possible. Joby Martin dives deep into scripture and traces the story of salvation by highlighting the seven mountains throughout scripture where God manifests himself. As he describes each encounter with God, Martin shows us how the interaction on each mountain laid the groundwork for Christ's sacrifice.

Heavily tattooed and foul-mouthed, Nadia Bolz-Weber, a former stand-up comic, sure as hell didn't consider herself to be religious-leader material - until the day she ended up leading a friend's funeral in a smoky downtown comedy club. Surrounded by fellow alcoholics, depressives, and cynics, she realized: These were her people. Maybe she was meant to be their pastor. Using life stories, Nadia uses humorous narrative and poignant honesty to portray a woman who is both deeply faithful and deeply flawed, giving hope to the rest of us along the way.

Story
In Accidental Saints, New York Times best-selling author Nadia Bolz-Weber invites readers into a surprising encounter with what she calls "a religious but not-so-spiritual life." Tattooed, angry and profane, this former standup comic turned pastor stubbornly, sometimes hilariously, resists the God she feels called to serve. But God keeps showing up in the least likely of people - a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop and a gun-toting member of the NRA.

Story
One thing moves God: faith. Not doctrinal savvy. Not willpower. Trust in God alone stirs him to move miraculously on our behalf. Time and again, Jim Cymbala, author of Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, has seen the power of faith displayed in the lives of the ordinary people in his church, and in his own life. He has seen drug addicts and prostitutes set free, marriages restored, and sinners transformed by the love of Jesus Christ. All through the kind of radical, living faith described in this audiobook.

Story
For 30 years, Lynn Wilder, once a tenured faculty member at Brigham Young University, and her family lived in, loved, and promoted the Mormon Church. Then, their son Micah, serving his Mormon mission in Florida, had a revelation: God knew him personally. God loved him. And the Mormon Church did not offer the true gospel. As Lynn tells her story of abandoning the deception of Mormonism to receive God's grace, she gives a rare look into Mormon culture, what it means to grow up Mormon, and why the contrasts between Mormonism and Christianity make all the difference in the world.

Story
If we’re honest, no one really cares about theology unless it reveals a gut-level view of God’s presence. According to pastor and ministry leader Hugh Halter, only the incarnational power of Jesus satisfies what we truly crave, and once we taste it, we’re never the same. God understands how hard it is to be human, and the incarnation - God with us - enables us to be fully alive. With refreshing, raw candor, Flesh reveals the faith we all long to experience - one based on the power of Christ in the daily grind of work, home, school, and life.

In an audiobook eagerly awaited by her growing retinue of fans, she brings listeners inside the world's oldest Christian faith, illuminating Eastern Orthodoxy in a manner similar to Kathleen Norris's exploration of Benedictine spirituality. An ex-hippie and former social radical, the author often writes humorously about her unusual road from Woodstock to the altar of an Orthodox church, where she is the pastor's wife.

Ed's life was great.
I was a fan of Ed Dobson when he was pastor at Calvary Baptist church. he's always had a corky sense of humor and an authentic message. I listened to his Year of Living Like Jesus when it was first published, and recently revisited it after many years. Many of his stories and highlights stuck with me for a long time. it's a wonderful story for anyone who is interested in learning more about how to live an authentic life regardless what Christian tradition you come from

Some valuable insights from Ed - But quite religious content
Overall I enjoyed this. I got it after buying his “Seeing Through the Fog” audiobook about 2 years ago, which is a book that Ed details his ALS journey, and gives one perspective and hope.
This book has more religious quotations, and at times, in certain chapters I found this a bit too much. But I persevered with it, to be able to hear Ed’s pearls of wisdom. Along the way I learnt interesting facts about Catholicism and the Rosary, and Judaism, along with other forms of Christianity.
It was interesting to hear the different approaches to religion and politics.
I am not about to go quoting the bible to others after listening to this; however this audiobook was worth listening too and I think Ed was a very well rounded individual whom would have been great to have in your life. It must have been hard that year for his family when he was living like Jesus, especially for his wife, and in caring for him as his ALS progressed. He was very fortunate to have such a supportive family, and they must miss him greatly. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Incredibly bad theology.
I wanted to like this book and I will admit it is well written. The story progresses effectively and the author succeeds in conveying the intended message. My issue with this book is in the theology presented. The author has an incredibly misguided understanding of Scripture.
