About this listen

Mason and Sam were ordinary people, living their lives day to day. Mason worked for roadside construction, and Sam went to college full-time. Their paths had no chance of crossing. The world they knew would change the day Mason, after working late, became empowered by an unknown source of cosmic energy.

Desiring a new life for himself, Mason wants to use his powers for good, and Sam, now possessing her very own destructive powers, must put her life on hold. As Mason and Sam deal with their new lives, neither of them are aware of the supernatural beings that seek to use them to reclaim their former power.

Great book for a listen, took a little while to get into but once a story line is established easy to get hooked.

Great Book

Joan Dukore did a fabulous job narrating this book. She had a good narrative voice as well as the ability to give each character their distinctive voices.

The author obviously hadn’t planned or read it aloud, as statements were “ABC said” throughout for conversations, which really grated on the ears after the 100th time.

Sam, Mason, and the supernatural beings threaded individually well, but it took a very long time before they interacted for it to become a more flowing story. It could be slightly confusing because it was rather slow paced. A few other characters had their own chapters and it took a while to recall if/when we met them before.

Maybe this is better as a book than audio for following.

Good Sci Fi with a dash of Super Heroes
