About this listen

For eight strangers in a Los Angeles hostel, even the other side of the world isn’t far enough. The craving for a new identity and the desire to start again is something they have in common. But they discover that it doesn't matter where you are or who you are - if you can't lay the past to rest, fate and coincidence have a way of catching up with you.

John Marrs is fantastic at creating multiple characters and story lines and artfully tying it all together. Wonderful.

Incredible

I had a difficult time keeping track of what was going on in the early parts of the story. It took my ADHD a while to understand the flashbacks in many of chapters were flashing back from the current chapter storylines and not one solitary timeliness. Once I was able to grasp that, I thoroughly enjoyed it as I have all past John Marrs' audiobooks.

Gosh. I love John Marrs. I don't know why this has such low reviews, it was a great book that kept me hooked. The narrator was awesome too. He has a voice for EVERY character (British, Australian, American). I highly recommend!!

Great listen!

What an amazing book! There are a lot of characters and it was hard to get into at first but I’m so glad I stuck with it as it was one of the best stories I’ve listened to!

Took me a minute to keep characters straight, but loved how their stories wove together.....lost and broken souls finding their way intermixed with a few unsavory sorts. Peter Noble narration 5 star.

Another great Marrs book

My 2nd book by this author and I am realizing I am really liking his style of writing. How there are a set of different people and their stories are told separately and yet somehow connected…
I am going to pick my next book by this author as soon as I’m done with this review.

Great book

with 162 chapters jumping over time and character, this is difficult to keep track of especially at the beginning when the point of plot, who is a hero or heroine, who is an antihero or antiheroine are all unclear. in fact there are many of each of these. However the idea becomes clear and the story is rather clever.

Strange story
