About this listen

Bitten by secrets. Broken by truths. That’s the trouble with beasts.

From best-selling and award-winning author D. Fischer, arrives the highly anticipated Howl for the Damned, a series for fans of Mercy Thompson, Bitten, and Alpha and Omega.

All Jinx Whitethorn wants is to discover a life outside of a coven she could never fit in with. She’s a witch born without magic, and a woman with a handful of problems to keep her company at night.

Determined to find some answers, Jinx digs through old family secrets layered with choices of desire and loyalty. What she learns about herself makes her wish she never went looking for answers in the first place.

Jacob Trent, the alpha of the local Riva Pack, stumbles into the middle of Jinx’s secret while trying to solve several shifter murders in the nearby town his pack protects. She’s a threat. Dangerous. An impossibility.

While bringing the troubling woman to heel, Jacob discovers Jinx’s family history has made her the prey of a hunt she isn’t prepared for.

A fantastic audiobook, that grabbed me right from the start, The Author and Narrator do a fantastic job. This has fantastic world building as well as Character building. And the Scenes are written so well that I can picture them in my mind's eye. A fast paced action read. There is twists and turns. I definitely recommend.

At first wasn’t too sure but as line after line came through the speakers found myself wondering if there was two people narrating! It only added & enhanced the story more. Looking forward to hearing the next in the series!!

Absolutely love this book/series!!!

This is book 1 of a new series by author D. Fischer. As I always expect from one of my favorite authors, the writing is smooth and the plot is excellent. The characters are well developed, believable, and complex. The narration is well done and flows smoothly without the disjointedness that sometimes occurs with audio books. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

I was gifted a copy, upon my request, and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Great start to a new series!

It begins with a nightmare that turns out to be all too real. A gruesome trail of dead bodies that seem to tell one story while simultaneously contradicting it. This action filled story is also a tale of self-discovery and redemption, with a bit of tender, burgeoning relationship type romance that stays clean.

Jinx is the kind of girl who makes her self at home, raids your fridge, and gets around to introductions later. Fiercely independent, she makes her own way - until she starts blacking out. Despite her way of wiggling herself into people's lives, she's never really belonged. Jacob is the stoic leader, dealing with the harsh aftermath of a devastating war, trying to protect his people - and himself. You know there are going to be sparks when the two of them interact.

This is book 1 in a spin off series, but can be read enjoyably without having read any other books in this world. Fair warning, if you haven't read any of Fischer's other books you will probably want to after reading this one!

Overall I think the narrator for this book did a good job. Lots of emotion and good dictation, easy to understand. Many female narrators have trouble with male voices and she managed to give the male characters deep rough tones but it sounded really irritating to her throat. I kept thinking I wanted to give her a throat lozenge. Some of the voices were very similar to each other, but the writing makes it clear who is talking so not a huge deal to me.

Another amazing book by the talented D Fischer. Wolf shifters, witch’s, and skinwalker’s what’s more to love in a fantasy book? How about romance and date bringing mates together and expanding on an already amazing set of books and characters we already love and adore! Can’t wait for book two <3

This book needs someone to review the narration. You can hear the page being turned, background noise, when she sniffles, coughs, and she breaths. Then their are gaps when she turns the page or she accidentally goes out of character or even forgets which character she’s narrating. You can tell this is the authors first book by the writing. It made it hard to listen to. The author seems to be taking the personality of her characters off of other books characters in the way they are stereotypical. I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to finish it. It’s a solid 1 1/2 stars.
