Enjoy learning the heart of the Buddha’s teachings and find out how the symbolisms represent them by listening to this audiobook!
The Symbolisms in Buddhism is a contemporary, in-depth writing on the philosophies and teachings of the Buddha. It defines who the Buddha is and the significance of events in his life. The Buddha’s teachings of the Middle Way, Cause and Effect, Cause and Condition, impermanence, Five Aggregates, and so much more such as the Mahayana study of the Amitabha’s Western Pureland are extensively explained and elucidated with many life’s circumstances and experiences so you can practice and relate to. Most importantly, Chapter 19, “The Practice”, shows you how to apply the Buddha’s teachings to resolve and overcome the challenges in your life and subsequently have peace and harmony within you and your family. Learn what the numbers 18 and 108 represent in the 18 and 108 prayer beads. Find out what the Buddha and Bodhisattva statues and their body and hand gestures mean. "As someone with a topical understanding of Buddhism, I found [The] Symbolisms in Buddhism: As I Have Heard, written by Christine H. Huynh, MD, to be a highly informative text. In it she has communicated the fundamental precepts and teachings of Buddhism in an accessible style for the reader/listener; citing examples throughout which further aid in understanding. Historical facts regarding the Buddha's life; the outlining of The Dharma and The Eightfold Path, as well as references throughout citing the innate Buddha nature in each of us serve to promote a deeper understanding of Buddhism. Huynh uses humorous examples to juxtapose potentially dense topics, all of which result in a highly engaging and enlightening book." Delightful and thorough
This delightful retelling of the story of the Buddha and Buddhism covers a wide range of topics, from basics about the historical Buddha's life to the importance of various types of symbols that facilitate a deeper understanding of his teachings. I feel the book will be equally useful to those just beginning their exploration of Buddhism as well as to experienced practitioners eager to broaden their knowledge. The narrator's voice is soothing and makes for an enjoyable listening experience. I highly recommend this book.

Wonderful, Uplifting , and Educational.
I absolutely love this book! I've listened to it all the way through twice and often listen to bits and pieces of it while falling asleep at bedtime. I already knew a small amount of the information contained in this book before listening to it but it's all presented in a new way to me, so I still enjoyed the presentation of what I already knew. Much of what's contained in the book is new to me, or I'd heard or read it before someplace else but didn't fully grasp it, but it's given in such an easy to understand way here and so I felt like I actually learned more and I understand Buddhism better now.
