About this listen
The Jones House is located at 314 E. Madison Street in Pontiac. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. This 1858 home experienced a major fire in 1975 and was ready for the wrecking ball. Two Pontiac gentleman purchased it and donated it to the Livingston County Historical Society. It took about ten years to fully refurbish the house. Members of the public now enjoy free tours of this unique pre-Civil War home that is the oldest brick home in Pontiac, Illinois. This book explores the history of the people that lived in this home and the refurbishment process.
