About this listen
Azerick decides to put his quest for vengeance behind him. He takes on an apprentice and opens a school and home for North Haven’s homeless children even as Ulric’s schemes throws the kingdom into chaos.
Hoping to create a life of peace and purpose, the young sorcerer finds himself in a struggle every bit as great as battling in the arena. Azerick quickly realizes he has taken on a task he cannot possibly do alone and calls upon his friends for help. He thinks he has managed to put all the death and destruction behind him until an assassin strikes from the shadows. Azerick realizes he and his new family will not be safe until he puts an end to those who threaten them once and for all.

An ever improving series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
As this series progresses, it seems to get better and better. I have really enjoyed the growth of the main character and his adventures. I was intrigued by the path the author chose to take the story is this book and find that I am really interested in continuing the story. Far more than I was after the first two books. The narration continues to be pretty solid. I definitely think this series is worth listening to.

Great continuation of the series
This audiobook continues the story of a young Sorcerer search for a life of security and happiness, but just when things seem to be working out for Azerick, someone else tries to murder him! I really enjoyed the character development in this book, as we see Azerick coming more into his own and developing into a humanitarian almost by accident. There are some great new characters in this story, with Grick the goblin being one of my favorites. His no nonsense attitude, loyalty, dry humour and quiet intelligence is great. In this story we see some closure for past events, magic, action, political intrigue, assassins and the ripple-effects of Azerick’s actions. Trouble always seems to find him and even though there are less battles in this book, it still seems that no matter what he does there is always someone who is trying to do him harm. The narrator did a good job and his range with the characters is improving from book to book. I am enjoying this series and look forward to seeing where Azerick’s adventures will take him next.

Be the Good you want to see
At my request, this audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an -->unbiased<-- review
Azerick is really not shy about finding, and almost making trouble in this book. I loved it every single time. We all know the kinds of people that one might find sometimes in a dark alley, or persecuting another. Azerick clearly shows what he thinks of such people. I guess he had enough of the universe forcing crap on him and he decided he was going to start manufacturing the Good he thought the world should have. Azerick surprised me sometimes with his generosity, and I wish exactly how big his hoard of treasure from the dragon was.
Either way, I really enjoyed watching the story unfold as William Turbett kept on. I'm really coming to appreciate him in this role. I'll just note here that it's been a similarly pleasant, if not marginally better performance from him here.
Anyhow, we meet some new characters, and each of them has a nice place to carve into the story. The ripple-effects of Azericks actions and the ongoing changes and what-ifs really made this a 'page-turner' for me :) This book leaves off with so many different events and plot lines at a point where it feels like all the various burners are boiling and ready to overflow. Even though this book is much more about developing Azerick and new home, we do learn about and encounter some really critical story elements from other perspectives. The hints of political intrigue, assassins, magic, and might had me really devouring this book. Thanks again for the listen, Mr. Deskins! This is a great series!

A legacy worth protecting
We enter the land imagined by Brock Deskins once again and continue to see, or in this case listen, the adventure of Azerick unfold. Though there may not be as many action packed moments, thrilling events, or dire times of perilous strife, I actually think that works to the books benefit.
It would be easy for each chapter in the book to be one moment of strife to the next, but having moments where the character settles down and unwinds helps to highlight those moments of action, while those moments of action help highlight the importance of those quiet moments with the characters, each event makes the other resonate more.
And this book does give Azerick a bit of closure to his torments from the last book, but not all of his grievances are taken care of, otherwise this series would end here.
The narrator is fine, and I still really enjoy the various voices he's able to come up with. I can tell that he's starting to show more range with each and every character that appears in this book
All in all a good book to listen. Take a moment of your time to listen to this book and see, or listen, where Azerick goes in the next chapter of his life. And what he'll do to protect it.

Continued excitement
This book was provided free of charge in exchange for a review.
This book continues the saga of a young Sorcerer in his search for a life of safety and happiness. This seems to be an elusive quest as there is always someone who is trying to do him harm.
He continues to go from danger to danger and matures as he does. He makes many new friends while trying to determine who is behind the deaths of all those who were close to him.
New characters were added in this book. Some were good and some not so much.
In all this is a fun listen. The narrator changed styles in this book and caused something of a problem in listening. But this could be overcome with a little patience when you get into the book and become accustomed to his narration.
Overall this is a really good series and I have enjoyed it a great deal.

Azerick returns, and fights. A lot.
Azerick is back, and man is the battle ever on! Did I say battle? Well, when the bad guys start coming out of the woodwork like cockroches fleeing a fire you get BATTLES!
The writing is spot on. Deskins knows how to tell a story, and he moves things right along. While there is some character development, there isn't a whole lotta og growth this time around, as complared to the first two books, and tht is to be a little expected. He is interesting nom atter what heis doing, and I think the school and his acclimating to its demands helps the book go along. Az is settling in, so he really doesn't need to keep struggling to find out who he is anymore. The battles are beautiful and every skirmish will leave you sweaty and breathing hard. The battles are cut back a little comparedto the earlier installments, though. My real issue is all the side stories, or extended plotlines that just ate up chunks of pages. We really didn't need all of those to keep the story moving ahead. In fact, a few times it actually slowed the story's progress.
Grick, the goblin, quite possibly steals the show. The little bugger is too funny, and adds a very appreciated levity. One thing I will say is that there are parts where Az's luck is stretched to the point of uttter incredulity. He really needs to hit Vegas, because some of the ways he manages to survive comes down to pure luck, and clearly the Lady loves him. It seems like every fight he is in has Lady Luck play a major hand. Still, not so bad to read, or in this case listen to, either way.
Speaking of listening, the narration by Turbett is as excellent as always. No flaws, easily distinguished characters, wonderful pacing, and a sense of tension were all the things that he brought to the table. I've followed him in other books, and know that he is professional, and sounds great. He does not let the story down.
I only listen to audio versions, so was not familiar with just how big this story was, My curiousity of how much more there was to come made me go and look, and it appears that we still have a few books to go, which is really good, since I am really enjoying this series. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Level 10 Hero can now construct Stronghold
From the classic days of Dungeons and Dragons all the way through modern video games, one of the benchmarks of a hero's story has been to claim and construct, or reconstruct a home base or stronghold. In this installment of the sorcerer's continuing woes, that is exactly what he does. Fortunately (or unfortunately) several benefits and complications come along with this project.
The narrator again does a decent job with the differentiation of most of the cast, however his voice frequently takes on a nasal-ly tone and often bleeds the emotions from one character to the next.
Unlike the classic role-playing games and modern video games, this book explores many of the problems and even minutia that it takes to complete a project like this. Even further the sorcerer is left with the unintended consequence of what to do with it when it's done. These issues become even more complex when people come looking for him. I can't wait to see what's next.

Beyond 5 Star's!
This is one of those series you don't want to end, and wish you had waited until all parts were released. Old age has brought so many wonderful and "lost my mind" freedoms. Unfortunately, eyesight was not included in the package. So, all I can say is hurry up and get the rest of the story out in audio so I can get back to North Haven. . . Snap, Snap.

Another great adventure
We now find our hero with on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of weak and destitute he’s finally coming into his own. I really liked the way the author has kind of had him develop into this great humanitarian almost by accident. It a testament to the old adage “no good deed goes unpunished”.
The characters develops is becoming much stronger and and the complicated storyline in finally starting to come together.
The narrator is doing better although maybe still a bit over dramatic.
I gave this book a 5 Star because there were numerous times I did lose myself in it a found myself smiling or chuckling at something that happened.
Great job!
I received this book free from the author for an unbiased review.
