About this listen
Analyn Sanchez can handle the long hours and arrogant clients that come with her job as a crisis management associate at Denver’s largest publicity firm. The high-powered job, expensive condo, and designer wardrobe are all part of her plan to prove to her family that her life choices haven’t been in vain. But when she’s asked to cover up a client’s misdeeds with serious moral and legal ramifications, she can no longer sacrifice her conscience for her career...and the cost is no less than her job.
Ever since a devastating climbing accident in South America eight months ago, and a bad decision that dried up his sponsorships, professional rock climber Bryan Shaw has found himself at similar loose ends. When the opportunity to buy a coffee farm in Colombia arises, he jumps on it - only to discover his wandering ways have left him utterly unprepared to run a business.
When Bryan returns home and offers Ana a role in his company as a solution to both their problems, she’s desperate enough to consider working with the far-too-flippant and far-too-handsome climber, even though he’s the polar opposite of her type-A nature. As they delve deeper into the business, however, she begins to suspect there’s much more to Bryan than she’s given him credit for...and that sometimes the best plans are the ones you never see coming.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Holden Henry is every girl’s dream—kind, funny, outgoing. A catch in every sense. Despite my wrong-side-of-the-tracks upbringing, he’s been my friend forever. He has no idea I’ve had more-than-friends feelings for him for years, and I intend to keep it that way. When I’m forced to return to the small town where we grew up, I’m faced with a big, fat problem. Being a good pal, Holden offers me a too-tempting solution: a marriage of convenience. It’s a crazy plan...but I’m desperate enough to try it. Besides, he’s not just saving me; we’ll be helping each other.

5+ stars: Best for last! (with a religious caveat)
[Book 3 in the excellent Supper Club series moves the focus to Ana & Bryan. It can be read as a standalone, but the other books give the characters & story greater depth & richness.]
Ana lives a lifestyle that leaves little time for introspection, & that's just how she likes it. She's really good at what she does, & her all-consuming job has become her identity. Till she gets suspended - for doing the right thing. Suddenly, she's kind of lost.
Bryan is recovering from a lifestyle that was superficial & self-absorbed, but after being that way for so long, people are wary as they can't be sure he'll stick with it.
Ana helps out Bryan, and as they discover what a good business team they make, things begin to percolate(!) between them. Eventually, they begin to consider the possibilities of becoming a full-time team. However, though they may be willing to break from their pasts, their pasts may not be done with them yet.
This installment is not only every bit as good as the first two, I actually think it managed to be even better! The author's writing is immediately engaging; and once I became immersed in it, I was unable to put it down till the end. The pace never lagged, and the story successfully manages that balance of being wonderful, yet always still believable. The only bad part was when it was over! 😉
*Romance level: passionate kisses, hero is a former player & in prologue sleeps with a woman but there are no graphic details - & the act has real life negative consequences
*Religion: overtly Christian, though low key & not preachy; heroine is from a Catholic family but has apparently left the Church, at least spiritually, & author makes a reference to the "pageantry" of the Mass indicating ignorance of the purpose of liturgy (illustrated in Revelation), either by the h who is only culturally Catholic after all, or possibly by the author herself.
Additionally, there would've been ZERO problem getting a marriage annulled in which a spouse had blasphemously lied to God by making sacramental vows which they had no intention of keeping
