It might not always flow perfectly but it totally engages. and it is very real, from the keyboard of a truly heroic New York cop.

The Snitch is a gripping police procedural covering a cpmplicated, ten year period in the life of good cop. The story has many levels, but its relevance to our view of police today is uncanny. It involves corruption, questionable shootings and just how difficult it is to do the right thing. Robert Leuci's novels are new to Audible, but were actually written in the 80's and 90's.

I flew through Leuci's Odessa Beach, and loved it. When I wrote the short review, i knew nothing of the author. Before purchasing the Snitch, i looked up Robert Leuci and was even more impressed. Leuci was a NYPD detective in the 80's who gained fame by exposing graft and corruption in the department. He began writing novels in the late 80's until his death in 2015. Though his writing may not be eloquent, his first hand knowledge of police work brings credibility to both the characters and the story.

The Snitch begins with the story of a poor Cuban immigrant that abruptly ends halfway through the novel. At first I was taken back, more than a little dissapointed. Perhaps he could have written it better, but in the end, I am thrilled to have experienced the entire novel. The characters are so well developed, complex and believable.

Peter Coleman is stellar as the narrator.
