About this listen

As a female coach, I've always lived by a simple mantra: throw hard, swing for the fences, and never, ever look back—especially when it comes to past flames.

So when my ex-boyfriend somehow manages to land the job as my new assistant coach, my life is flipped upside down. The game I thought I'd mastered is now being played with a whole new set of rules.

My ex is baseball's all-star Nathan Pierce. He's tall, dark, and undeniably handsome. He's also all too eager to spend extra hours working together while flashing that familiar devilish smirk of his that still sends my heart racing.

Between playful teasing and lingering stares, I discover that Nathan isn't just here to work. He's here to rewrite history. Our history.

When fate throws another curveball that involves me needing a place to stay, Nathan offers me his spare bedroom, which sends me spiraling into emotions I believed had long since faded.

Now, I'm faced with the ultimate decision: keep it professional and continue fleeing from our past, or confront it head-on by playing the game he thinks we were meant to finish together.

Aaaand I'm crying again...

I loved this book! I read this series a bit out of order, starting with book 3 (The Problem With Falling), then book 1 (The Problem with Dating) and finishing up with book 2 (The Problem with Players). Each book touched a part of my soul, and I swear there is something magical in Brittainy Cherry's books. How can a book be so cute and cozy while tackling really tough topics/traumas? Her books have me kicking my feet giggling on one page and then crying my heart out in the next chapter. And somehow this beautiful author has me invested in the side characters...I NEVER care about the side characters in small town books. But she weaves these intricate multi-generational stories filled with so much love and yes pain...but it is so so healing and worth it! Read the books. Go in blind. You’re welcome!

Perfect!

This book covered all of the bases. I love a second-chance romance and getting the chance to read Avery’s story. You don’t have to, but it helps reading her sister’s, Yara’s, story first. Nathan and Avery both have past traumas that bond them together and Brittany does a great job developing their relationship with care. I actually like this book more than the first of this series. I can’t wait to read Willow’s story!

Content warning: This book does cover tough subjects such as loss and grief, but handles it with compassion and a positive approach to therapy.

Mental health I love the way it was exposed.

This book was really enjoyable and real. Had me in tears at times love the steamy scenes. Wish book one had more of that like this book did. Still both books are really good. This book really touch on Depression and fighting to find your sunbeam, which I love. I love the way the author dig deep with emotions that a lot of people deal with in real life. Also the narration was on point, really enjoyed and they made the book come to life. I love it when that happens, will be listening to this book again.

Character depth!

I liked this one; especially, because I love a good slow burn! I found this listen relatable and entertaining. I appreciate the author for not shying away from the hard topics.

If you read the first & second books of the series, you’ll find that each has a tone completely different from the other. Three cheers for that surprise!

My Heart!!! 😭😭

I was not expecting this after the first book!! "The Problem With Dating" was, I feel, more light hearted, but "The Problem With Players" tugged at my heart more. They could be read as stand alones, though I suggest reading/listening to both.

Anyway, this book had me in tears!! I just felt soooo connected to this story and Avery. Then Nathaniel, not only is my husbands name, but reminds me of him too, which was the icing on the cake. It was heart breaking and warming at the same time. It's a second chance romance. 💕 Ms. Cherry has you cheering for many reasons during this book.

Wow! Really good story.

It had a heavier subject matter about mental health that took me by surprise. I had the book for awhile but kept putting off reading it. So I went ahead and purchased the audiobook. The story was great and the voice narration was beautiful and one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to in a long time. They made this story so visible. Another great story by Brittany Cherry.

Beautiful story

Second chance romances are usually not my favorite. However, this story was so beautiful! The way the Nathan loved Avery was so heartwarming. I’m a huge fan of Cherry’s writing!

Sports romance

I love a good sports story. Avery was everything, Smart, strong, loving. She was the kind of person you want in your family. Nathan was so likable, strong, vulnerable. The chemistry between them was excellent. Their family was hilarious. This was a feel good book.
