About this listen
A riveting domestic thriller...PREDATORS COME IN MANY GUISES…THE ONES WHO WEAR UNIFORMS ARE THE MOST DANGEROUS OF ALL
Nineteen year old Cathy has already lost her parents and the boy she loved. As a struggling college student, she enjoys her job waitressing at a local diner—and the flattering attention of the town’s middle-aged Police Chief. Frank is a father figure, until he’s not. He pretends to be a gentleman, until she’s tricked into becoming his wife. Only after it’s too late does she realize that her husband, the powerful man who controls the town, is also a killer—and she’s next on his list.
Escape becomes her goal, revenge her mantra. Faking her death provides the escape. Framing him for her murder provides a measure of revenge.
Hitchhiking to freedom offers a gateway to twenty lonely years on the run—her only solace found in the anonymous embrace of the mountains and the trust of the horses in her care.
But just as the love of a good man beckons, her past hurtles back to destroy her. Two can play the revenge game. Now Frank is out of prison--and he’s coming to get his.

Especially today with all the problems
laws and trying to use them there is fine line between rightfully enforcing and bullying. The story conveys this and the narration brought it home!

Definitely an Edge of Your Seat Listen!
Cathy, a young woman, alone except for a few good friends accepts a free vacation to Las Vegas with Frank, the local middle-aged Police Chief. Their last morning there, she awakens and finds herself married … to Frank! Frank is all things evil. There is a price to pay for freedom.
The author, Rita M. Boehm, weaves a terrifying tale of serial abuse and murder. Boehm captivates the audience with precise details of the abuse, emotional trauma, and internal dialogue. She flawlessly embodies the “last girl” role, transforming from prey to predator. The tension between maintaining distance and the desire for community is also smoothly and accurately conveyed. Each character is thoroughly developed with precise details and effective, authentic dialogue. Each plot twist is expertly executed, drawing the audience deeper into the narrative.
The narrator, M> De Blasi, captures the essence of the protagonist accurately and expertly. She speaks clearly and concisely, authentically conveying stress and emotional turmoil. She captures and communicates each situation authentically. She gives each character depth and purpose through her delivery. Her cadence is smooth and flawless.
This is a captivating edge-of-your-seat book in its richness and depth. While it may be triggering for those who have experienced domestic violence, it is exceptionally well-crafted. I highly recommend this book.

Innocence Destroyed
A despicable and vengeful chief of police preys on a young girl’s vulnerability, locking her into an abusive marriage from hell. Her plotted revenge sends him to prison, and sends her on the run for twenty years. I breathed with her every fear of retribution as I listened to an excellent narrator tell her story. Don’t miss this one.
