About this listen

Someone's looking for Tobias. Someone who says she's his long-lost cousin. Tobias isn't sure the person is telling the truth, but she's really nice, and knows a lot about him. And what she tells Tobias definitely gets his attention.

It seems a lawyer has discovered Tobias' father's last will and testament. So, Tobias needs to attend the reading. His cousin even offers to go along. But something just doesn't feel quite right. That's when Tobias and the other Animorphs decide to do a little checking on this "cousin". And what they discover will change the rest of Tobias' life....

I always thought Tobias was the best character, I definitely identified with him the most, for a number of reasons. I remember reading this and the Andalite Chronicles and being floored by his connection to Elfangor. Rereading it, I realize how complex and mature this series can be at times. Applegate doesn't underestimate her reader's ability to absorb more "adult" themes, she gave me a love of science fiction and reading that has continued to this day and I couldn't be more thankful.

one of my favorite animorphs

I really hope that this series continues to be made into audio books! Please don't forget to make the Megamorphs and Chronicles into audiobooks too as they are very much part of the experience!

I love this series!

That had to be one of the best voice performances I’ve heard in a while. Really made me feel the words in this book. Great story too.

Amazing voice performance

Tobias books are nearly always amazing in this series. They're always meaningful, deep, and very pivotal.

But this audiobook falls a bit flat because Scholastic has chosen not to adapt Megamorphs or Chronicles books. I'm this case the Andalite Chronicles and Hork-Bajir Chronicles are crucial to have read to understand all that occurs. They're also fantastic books.

So if Scholastic reads these reviews: adapt the ENTIRE series. Not just the mainline 54 books...You do the fans and new readers/listeners a great disservice otherwise.

Fantastic book---but Scholastic fails in one way

This is the best reading I’ve heard so far. The orator captured the emotions and nuances of each of the characters and really had me feeling the emotional turmoil that Tobias was experiencing. I would love if all of the orators could give the same passion to their readings. This was an amazing audio book in all aspects!

Fabulous orator!

I really appreciate how Michael or the director remembered that when Tobias is morphed as Ket Halpek, he has her voice. I'll assume the one time he spoke directly to Bek in his own voice, it was thought speak, because I don't have a copy of the book to check.
