Performance was awful

The only reason I finished listening to this book was the story. The plot was interesting but I think it could have been written better. There were times where the flow of the book was so poor that I had to restart the chapter or even go back to the previous chapter to understand the segue to the current text. I did not like the performance at all. I think it might have been easier to follow the plot had I read the book instead of being distracted by the awful performance. Did I say, I hated the performance?

Great listening with unity message

This book grab my attention from the very beginning. It was interesting to hear the drama from someone who actually lived as president of United States. This made it very realistic, educational and entertaining. The ethical decisions made along the way truly are examples of how these kind of decisions should be made with American values the foremost. I fully recommend listening to this book.

Interesting and entertaining, but . . .

Dennis Quaid clearly can't do female or foreign voices. Given that there were other narrators, surely the job could have been divided up among them to produce something that wouldn't make me groan like that. I didn't really approve of a President sounding slightly intoxicated, either.

On the authorship side - I guess Patterson has eroded into formulaic productions in his later years. Such a shame, as he has had a lot of practice novelizing. I'm actually older than he, so this isn't a younger criticizing and elder. But. really, mystery/thriller is my favorite genre, but all the fictions lately seem to have a mentally or physically challenged protagonist, female villains, cuddly and misunderstood youngsters, and too much testosterone.

On content: the technology seemed rather primitive, though this didn't appear to be historical fiction (we still have never had a female vice-President, so . . .). I bet it would have been better if Hillary had edited it.

Trust is earned...

This story did not develop the way I thought it would. I was expecting "Olympus Has Fallen." However, I was pleasantly supprised with the depth of the nested plots as they unfolder. Trust is earned and can be lost in an instant.

Awesome and Relevant

Wonderful mystery replete with current events and relevant political challenges. Who knew the inner struggles of Washington's tribalism could provide fertile ground for such a great story? I look forward to the promise of more from the dynamic duo of Bill Clinton and James Patterson.

Political agenda ruins great book

The story line was very good, fast moving, never knew what twist or turn was going to happen, Then at the end one of the authors maybe both threw in his political agenda which was so far left that it ruined the whole book. Have told all my friends if they read this read or listen to this book skip the very last chapter so they can walk away thinking great book!

The President Is Missing is a riveting and suspenseful novel that kept me totally engrossed all the way through

I truly enjoyed this book. I didn't want to put down. It is ripped from the headlines of today which makes it so believable and adds insight to the presidency and some of the inner workings of government. I appreciate it's authenticity and honesty I highly recommend this book.

hard to put down even with it's flaws

This is my first James Patterson book and I was a little disappointed. He put 80 percent of his energy, creativity and words on the plot , 10 percent on the technical explanations of hacking and how Congress, government agencies and the presidency works, 8 percent on character development and 2 percent on atmospherics and setting. I like more fully developed characters. But he did have a most engaging plot. I especially liked the twists and turns of the plot as we tried to figure out who was the traitor.
Some of the narrators were excellent, the woman I thought was especially good at bringing her characters alive. I had the most trouble with the guy with the gravelly voice: harder to understand and very distracting. I got more used to it after awhile.

Incredible story and performance

Loved the book, Dennis Quaid's performance and Bill Clinton's messages, sprinkled throughout, especially the speech at the end. The story is full of suspence. Hated to see it end.

Bill couldn’t resist

Really great Patterson novel. Scary part is fiction of cyber attack is only a few keystrokes from the real thing.
But the last two chapters just showed a Clinton can not help themselves from bloviating their political beliefs. Could have been copied directly from a Hillary stump speech from 2016.
