About this listen
This is what their son, Joe O'Loughlin, has always believed. But when Joe is summoned to the hospital with news that his father has been brutally attacked, his world is turned upside down. Who is the strange woman crying at William's bedside, covered in his blood - a friend, a mistress, a fantasist or a killer?
Against the advice of the police, Joe launches his own investigation. As he learns more, he discovers sides to his father he never knew - and is forcibly reminded that the truth comes at a price.
A mesmerising psychological thriller from one of the greatest crime writers of today, Michael Robotham, the internationally bestselling author of THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS.
Praise for Michael Robotham's writing:
'Will have you turning the pages compulsively' The Times
'Robotham doesn't just make me scared for his characters, he makes my heart ache for them' Linwood Barclay
'Superbly exciting ... a terrific read' Guardian
'A nerve-shredding thriller with the heart and soul so often missing from lesser crime and suspense novels. I couldn't stop reading, yet I didn't want Audie's story to end. Robotham is an absolute master' Stephen King on Life or Death©2018 Michael Robotham (P)2018 Hachette Audio UK

When Owusu sends the evidence for examination, he learns the bones are connected to a cold case that left three people dead on the kitchen floor in a Chelsea mansion thirty years ago. Rachel Rimmer has also received a shock—her husband, Michael, has been found dead in the cellar of his house in France. The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Ahhh . . . His entwined characters
As a writer I so seldom meet characters in modern fiction as entwined, laudatory in their intentions, enmeshed in their criminal psychological frailties who are driven by such believable implausible narrative ~ so much so that I want to read Mr. Rebotham’s books a second or third time. They are subterranean, gorgeous in suspense. Rich. Every move his writerly touch makes is perfect.

The BEST Joe story so far!
Having read almost all of the Joseph O'Loughlin stories, The Other Wife is my favorite. I didn't want it to end, wanting to hear more of Joe's journey, the poignant and funny conversations with his daughter Emma, and the great story line that Robotham brings to life. If you haven't read any of the Joseph books, start with the first one. You too will be drawn into Joe's world of fighting for justice and solving crimes with the help of Ruiz (and his boiled sweets). Sean Barrett as narrator was amazing as always. I can't imagine listening to anyone else as the voice of Joe. Highly recommend!!!

Great story, compelling, personal, loved it!
One more great read in my favorite series. A page turner with great depth. I love the characters and I’m looking forward to the next one! And I hope it will be read again by Sean Barrett. He’s a phenomenal reader.

Excellent!
Couldn't wait to listen where I'd left off every time! Fantastic dramatic performance by the reader with varying voices, reactions and location driven details he made sure to include. Of course the British dialects are extremely fun to listen to and add to the story. Gripping writing and characters with depth. Make sure to get this one!

Really nice story
I love Micheal Robotham books. It has content, I learn something new and I love that there is no loose ends at the end of the book. I can follow and then understand the end. It’s my type of book.

So Sad!
I am very upset that this is the last book in the Joeseph O'Loughlin series! Michael Robotham quickly became one of my favorite authors after reading one of his novels unrelated to this series. Since then I have purchased almost every one of his books on Audible. This series is my absolute favorite! I LOVE Ruiz and Joe and they make a great team! I am sad this is the end!

Best yet -
I've read all Robotham's books with Dr. Joe and this is by far the best. Great writing, great story - a few weak story parts but an excellent book.

Wonderful, as usual
I just hope he will write more books in this series. This last one was written five years ago, but I’m holding onto hope. The door was left open.

Thrilling storyline
There are lots of twists that you don’t expect. You think “ah ha” but then something happens and everything changes. Love Robotham! And Sean Barrett is masterful. All around it was a great way to spend my commute and during long flights.
