About this listen
General Travis Bains has two daughters - one who is good and one who is bad. Everyone knows Lindsey is the good one, and Jessie is the bad one. Jessie Bains is the other sister, the bad sister, which she has proven more often than not until the day she gets kidnapped and brutally raped. Will Hendricks, one of her father's soldiers, rescues her and brings her home but fears she may be nearly destroyed by what has been done to her. The most important thing, however, is that no one can know, per the general's orders.
Jessie's life was always far from normal as the daughter of one of the most revered generals in the world. No one sees what the general does to Jessie except Will. When Will discovers the danger Jessie is living in at her father's hand, he once again rescues her. Will has survived the horrors of war but is now engaged in a battle that has become far more personal and far more deadly. Will alone realizes what the general has done and will do to destroy his "other" daughter.

So Very Emotional
I had previously read this book several years ago. Decided I wanted to read/hear the whole series and it was as good as I remembered. The heartbreaking storyline of Jessie's experiences bought me to tears and anger. Will stole my heart. The emotional rollercoaster was worth the ride. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Brittany was a very good narrator. She really had the book rolling like a movie in my head. Excellent performance!

Disturbing yet compelling
This is a heart wrenching tale of mental and physical abuse that I could not put down. At times, I wasn't even sure it was going to have a happy ending but I still had to keep listening. It is also about hope and coming back from the edge. Just for those in doubt, there is an HEA.

amazing read!!!
this book.... oh my gosh... it was dark, it was soft, it was care, it was love, it was more things than I can describe in a short summary review. Will's love and patience to help Jessie was incredible. but the most incredible thing about this book was the audio performance. if I could give it 1000 stars I would. absolutely great!!! please read this book, you won't regret it. but you might regret if you don't listen to the audio version. astounding!!!!!!

Heart wrenching
The story was definitely 5 heart wrenching stars. The drop came from the fact that there was a need for an editor. Run on sentences, lack of punctuation, and poor structure caused me to reread to discern what the author was trying to express. Specifically abrupt changes in perspective. For many parts of the book large portions were of either Will or Jessie's. Then there were times where mid-paragraph the POV changes and I would have to reorient myself to whose thoughts were being written. It happened too many times and threw off the flow of the book. Audio smoothed some of this over, but not completely.
Emotionally, this is NOT an easy book to read/listen to. It's absolutely a romance in that there is a couple and they get an HFN (there's a follow-up novella), but it is a long, winding, vicious, and painful road for both of them. I also usually stick my content warnings at the bottom, but this entire book centers around the sexual and physical abuse that Jessie experiences and her self harm - on page - and her long road to healing. As well as Will trying to unravel all of the Bains family secrets and help Jessie. Take care fellow reader/listener.
There is a lot of angst, but it isn't unnecessary or without supporting details. Davis dives deep into the horror that Jessie endures and her realistic reactions and coping as a victim and then a survivor. Will is a hero in and outside of the military. But he's never faced or even conceived of what Jessie has been through and having to watch it in vivid detail requires him to completely change as well.
There were a lot of ugly tears for me reading and then listening to this. However, I loved Will and Jessie and that they finally get to a place of healing and true love for themselves and each other. I'm looking forward to their HEA in The Years Between.
Brittany Pressley was fantastic. I enjoyed her voices for Jessie, Will, and the rest of the cast. She did a wonderful job with such an emotional story.

Honest review ** no spoilers**
Any additional comments?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, this book is really well deliver with the sensitive subjects presented. People complained about this book being to graphic. This book is graphic full of mature, adult content and sensitive topics.
Sex, Rape, Murder, Deception, and that is just the beginning. Yes, some of it is hard to read. However, this is a story and unfortunately it happens in the world.
There are many times you will laugh, cry, fill with rage and perhaps all the emotions at once. It is a very emotional book.
What other book might you compare The Other Sister to and why?
Unlike any other book I have read. This book is very bold.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator did a great job. She wouldn't of been my first pick. There are some people betrayed in this book but their personalities doesn't match the voice they were given.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The whole book had some sort of extreme emotion happening at all times. The last three hours had SO much happen. The ending was pretty much all over the place but life is so unpredictable and things change without notice. I think that was the intention the author was trying to make with the ending.
Any additional comments?
The book is easy to invest yourself into the lives of these characters. I have to know now and continue this life journey will all of them. I need to know how the ending of this book will change the way things turn out.
Great read. I am surprised that there hasn't been any reviews on Audible yet. It is a great read. IF you can move past the sensitive topics and just really invest your self into the life of someone else.
