I'm a guitar teacher and I'm interested in how people learn. Always been interested in the neuroscience behind it. It makes me a better teacher.

Picked up this audio book this week, and I'm returning it already. The AI narrator is hard to listen to. Every time she says "neuroplasticity" it's like a copy/paste pronunciation. Like a GPS. It's hard to listen to for any extended length of time.

I sped the book up (as I do with most of my audiobooks), but when you do that, there's little artifacts and clicks in the voice that make it sound weird and robotic.

I miss The Great Courses Lectures. I like real people talking about stuff they're passionate about. Their excitement keeps me interested.

I didn't finish the book, but everything so far is pretty well known stuff: The London taxi drivers brains example. Learning languages physically changes the brain. Stuff like that. So far it's been topics and concepts we've all heard before. I have no problem studying things twice (maybe a book has a new interpretation of something I've already heard) but the dull AI voice paired with lots of topics that are already covered is enough for me to stop listening.

Apparently, later in the book they will talk about how AI is helping education, but ironically I didn't reach that part because the AI narrator is so terrible.

Save your money.

the AI narrator is so bad
