About this listen
Elisa had made a habit of calling her parents every day and the 29th and 30th were no exception. That was also the day she moved in and was quickly drummed out by the other tenants because she made them "uncomfortable". Her eviction from the shared room to her own private room must have been difficult for a young woman already full of insecurities, neuroses, and esteem issues. January 31, 2013, Elisa Lam's parents, for the first time on Elisa' "West Coast Tour", didn't receive a call from her daughter. This was the day that she was scheduled to check out from the hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Lam knew her daughter well enough to know there was a problem. They contacted the LAPD and reported her missing (contrary to popular belief the federal government doesn't allow local law enforcement to issue "waiting periods" before accepting a missing person report). By the next day her parents flew to Los Angeles to assist with the search.

Basic Overview of a Complex Case
I suppose in 30-plus minutes I should not have expected more than this: a basic oveview of a complex case. I had hoped some new information would have been revealed, instead it was just a summary of the many news, podcasts and other media stories already out there. I don't like to knock the work of any author but this was not worth the $3 price tag.

Awful Narration
The Narrator is perfect for a Sports cast or a news anchor but he was not appropriate for this story. This is a story about a murder and his voice is emotionless, factual and monotone. I'm glad this was only about 40 minutes long and not the length of a whole book or I would have opted out. The story itself was fine and mostly stuck to the facts until the very end where the author says she knows it was not suicide but murder, of course there's nothing wrong with her opinion but this is more of a blog type article than a fiction story. I would say for the price you pay this is what you get.

Is this a parody?
This was, by far, the worst audiobook I've ever listened too. The pathologically bad writing was paired perfectly with the outlandish narration.

The Narrator!
Couldn’t even finish 1st chapter. Why would this sports caster of voice be selected? No No. Doesn’t work with this scenario. Terrible
