This book reminded me of the Young Adult mysteries I used to read, and I mean that in the best way. It had that same sense of curiosity. It wasn’t too long, which I liked, and the pacing felt just right. The writing was good, especially when it came to the visuals and dialogue. I could picture the scenes clearly and the conversations between characters. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery with heart.

I liked that this was a contemporary story. It made me think of how many little towns there are that have their own secrets. It also made me consider why sometimes we end up being the golden child though we live through the lens of a black sheep. This is a good story that really touches on how family really is a blessing or a curse depending on who your family is and what role you want to play in it. All together this was a great listen. Can’t wait to see what else Lai Holmes publishes.
