About this listen
Heroes will rise and gods will fall…
The gods have broken free, in an inferno of magic and flame. Now they seek total domination, turning Erland’s conflicts and divisions to their own dark purposes.
Orsian is trapped in the dungeons of Merivale. He must escape the darkness and duel his hateful brother to take up his father’s legacy, as Erland’s champion in the coming storm.
Far to the West, Rymond Prindian fights for his crown. Outnumbered and outclassed by the imperial legions, his ragged band of warriors and mercenaries needs a miracle to survive.
Pherri, torn from existence by magic, awakes in another world—a twisted mirror of the Erland she knows. Only by finding a way home can she hope to save the ones she loves.
Erland’s armies march once more, guided by the ancient malice of the gods. Bonds of family, love and loyalty will be shattered in an epic final battle that will echo across infinite worlds.
The Madness of Gods is the third and final volume in R.S. Moule’s thrilling Erland Saga. With action, magic and intrigue, it’s perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin, John Gwynne and Raymond E. Feist.

Story
Ian and Vic are brothers. Their lives are simple, and while they might long for excitement, happiness can be found in a hard day's work, a sunny day, or the smile from a pretty girl. Their lives are turned on end when their village is attacked and they are taken as slaves, destined to labor under the watchful eye of their captors. The strife that had long dominated much of the world had found them. Things would never be the same.

Rich story line, great production and ending
I'm writing this several weeks after I finished it but consider this a new favorite author to watch. I really enjoyed the serries, surprised here and there, appreciated the effort to craft great prose and unique world building. Good stuff and a great series.
The slant on parallel fantasy worlds will be off-putting for some but I enjoyed it and thought it was executed well.
I enjoyed the character arcs, the interfamilial tensions and kingdom power struggles a lot and thought this was artfully executed.
Colin Mace does a fantastic job as well. I will search for both this narrator and author in the future.

Nice surprise!
Thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. The narrator was good, but a little too often halting needlessly in his read through. That said, the story was fabulous. I whisper-sinc’d these books because I don’t have a lot of time to just sit and read. But I preferred reading this series.

Flop ending
The ending is just an unexplained deus ex machina, truly bad writing,
The epilogue is literally 90min, which is about comparable with the extremely overblown epilogue in war and peace.
Overall I'd rate the whole series 2 stars, the laughably bad ending spoils everything before it, and I'm tempted to seek a refund.
