About this listen
Home-field advantage has a new meaning.
For former baseball pro Abraham Jenkins, the struggle to find a way home has grown harder an harder. The past he was transported to is no longer a strange new world, and the nobles he serves are as familiar as his old coaches.
Now, he and the King's henchman are dispatched on a quest more deadly than ever before. The queen is sick, and they must venture into perilous territory to uncover a cure for her. But the further they go, the more clear it becomes: There is a traitor among them.
Wielding a magically telepathic sword, Jenkins not only must face off against vicious creatures, but also protect himself against his own crew. Teaming up with an unlikely ally, he knows the King's credo is meant to come first - above all - even his own life.
Battling his past and his present, Abraham struggles to survive. But how far will he have to go to save himself? And what home will he return to, when the very meaning of the word has become blurred.

Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Story
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Monsters and beasts roamed the earth and were slain by soldiers and adventurers who were, in turn, killed by stronger threats. Heroes and villains created new epics and were forgotten when their successors appeared. This was the way of the Infinite World. Summoned into this chaotic place, a young boy with no name and no past must learn to survive. Bound to a master who doesn't care whether he lives or dies, he must become stronger. Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Much better than expected
The story so far has been presented masterfully so far. The narrator is easy to understand, has a variety of distinct and appropriate modes of performing that can be most appreciated in literature such as this with many characters to keep track of. I didn't think this would be more than something to listen to while searching for a really enjoyable story, but if the series continues to of the same quality I would love to have everything available as a publisher pack or similar collection. With what looked like at least 5 books such an option seems appropriate. And as the first 3 books are currently available for free I don't see why a product with the remaining books incorporated would fail to be profitable. I am aware that the accumulation of wealth is the goal of everyone but the consumer when considering how to present it and more items to sell is more money, but with so much availability I rarely consider anything under 15 hours when purchasing an audio book. The only reason I started this series was it initially being free for 30 hours. I would also agree that with the 3 free books purchase of the remaining works would satisfy my desire for thrift. But then why not offer the stories as a collection anyway and be one of the few exceptional literary offerings available that are more than 20 hours in length? It would put the title in a much more exclusive "search" criterioner And so increase its exposure to the consumer that first look at the 20+ hours long selection when making a purchase. The only other real competitor at 50+ hours is, that I know of, galaxy outlaws at 85. I doubt that such a satisfying assortment will ever be matched, but I am sure anything above 30 hour is extremely appealing whenever it is found.

A modern world meets fantasy fun
The King’s assassin is the exciting continuation in Craig Halloran’s King’s Henchmen series.
This installment follows Ruger Slade as he is, again, magically possessed by a different man from the near now world.
King’s Assassin is even more exciting than the former installment, which follows the course of Abraham, as he tries to protect his king and land, while trying to find a way home.
The King’s Assassin definitely picks up speed, where King’s Henchmen left off. I am very impatiently waiting for the next installment of this series.
This series is nothing like Halloran has written before. Its dark, gritty, and sometimes a little sexy. The series has strong characterization, as well as hysterical allusions to modern day, while still being a slash and dash, swords and sorcery genre.
I definitely recommend this book, if you like your DND with a little modern flavor.
The narrator is compelling, and a new voice to me. He paces himself well, and intones the characters voices the way I imagine them in my mind. Bravo performance, Alexander Cendese.

I believe that this book is even better than the first, which is hard to to do since it started off a winner. Ruger is a great character and I just love Solomon. The Prince.... Yes, yes, yes finally. I'm on to number three for sure.

Good continuation of a good story.
Very interesting story. Glad that the story continues unbroken through each volume. I wish that the voice portrayal had more distinctivenes. Especially in regard to the female characters. The action is well described so that you can feel like you are right in the midst of the battles.
