About this listen
The nerd, the coach, and the hookup...
Asher - Swipe left, swipe left, swipe left. Sure, the idea of a quick, no-strings intimate rendezvous via hookup app sounds oddly thrilling, but it’s simply not me. Or maybe it is me, because it happened...and I liked it. Until I realized he looked familiar for a reason. A bad reason. Now I’ve made a faux pas with the sexiest man on planet Earth, and my internal karma system requires me to fix it. Help!
Blake - I may seem like I have it together, but the truth is, I’m a hot mess. I’m so deep in the closet that I can’t remember my real name some days. That’s okay. The benefit of one-night stands is anonymity. Until Asher. Not a total surprise. I’ve always had a thing for geeks, but I’ve never met anyone like him. He’s a pint-sized dynamo on a quest for perfection who can help me come out...if I follow his script.
Hmm. I’m in.
The Jock Script is an MM bisexual, geek/jock romance starring a bowtie wearing nerd, a sexy lacrosse coach, and a shenanigan inducing script!

Story
When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

Tyson Langley thinks the king in Franklin University Kings is in reference to him. Star lacrosse player and God’s gift to the female and male population, there’s nothing the spoiled jock can’t have. It’s impossible for us to be in the same room without talking crap to each other. But I also have a secret…as much as I despise Ty, I want him too. I revel in our banter and in never knowing what he’ll say next. I’ve spent too much time on the wrong side of the law for someone like Ty, though, and if I want to escape my past, he’s a distraction I don’t need.

Hockey is in my blood. I learned to skate before I learned how to ride a bike. I’ve been on a wild ride, playing at the highest level for some of the biggest and best teams in the league. But now it’s over, and I’m not sure what to do with myself. So I'm going home to Elmwood. But I’ll tell you what I’m not gonna do—I’m not going to coach my buddy’s junior hockey league. No chance. The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

A long time ago, in a suburban high school not so far away, a closeted nerd (me) and a closeted soccer star (Hutch) fell in love and planned to make their public debut at prom. Until Hutch bailed at the last minute, leaving me with a broken heart and unworn tuxedo. Tale as old as time, right? I spent the past ten years working to forget Hutch, returning to our old high school to teach and make new memories that could erase ones of him. I thought Hutch was ancient history, off living his professional athlete life.

Another wonderful romance
Narrator: Mr. Alexander Cendese
This fun and flirty audio between a jock and nerd did Ms. Lane’s book justice! The expressive voice of Asher was delightful and as I imagined he would sound. His excitable tone was perfect for our genius, Star Wars-loving geek! The narrator’s timbre for Blake was deep, smooth, and easy-going, which matched the gorgeous lacrosse player. The natural banter flowed between the two men, and the sexy times were steamy. The tender moments were just so endearing. This top-rate audio presentation held my interest from start to finish, and I can’t recommend it enough. Happy listening!
Story-line: Ms. Hayes creates solid characters that bring the pages to life. I love how she takes the most unlikely couple and makes a very believable and loving relationship that is not only endearing but, of course, sizzling.
In book three of the Script Club series, we are introduced to Asher—the biggest geek of the group. He was a perfect complement to hunky Blake, who is a very respected lacrosse coach. At first glance, one might think Blake is the one that has his life under control and knows how to achieve his goals. Compared to our bow-tied Asher, he has much to learn. Asher might appear a bit odd, but he knows what he wants out of life.
The story contains all the elements that I love, and the characters have hidden strengths. Friends become something more, and for the first time, Blake wanted to earn someone else’s respect. Blake certainly achieved that with me. The slow but steady change of ‘Mr. Love Them Once’ was tender and had all the right feels!
Hard choices become a simple decision with the right person behind you. The Star Wars geek with his Yoda slippers and the sexy as sin coach put a constant smile on my face. I strongly recommend this romance.

Another great Lane Hayes story!
Alexander Cendese does a fabulous job with these characters!
Here's my original review from the eBook...
Man…I love this series! Honestly, Ms. Hayes is one of my top go-to authors and I’ll read anything she releases sight unseen. I’m not sure if Ash and Blake can knock George and Aiden out of the top spot as my favorite but it’s a close call. This is another cute, quick, low angst read in the series and one I highly recommend!
Asher is just…adorable. His childhood was a bit depressing which caused him to essentially turn off his emotions. He is just so matter of fact and with a script, unflappable, about everything. Until he meets Blake (and their whole intro convo/meet scene is awesome) and becomes a bit unraveled.
Blake is a really good guy who is at a bit of a crossroads. Hiding his sexuality has slowly driven him to the edge and he wants to start living truthfully. He just doesn’t know how to do that until he meets Asher.
These guys are lovely together…the size difference, they’re both smart but opposite in personality. Asher is buttoned up, serious, and follows a rigid set of rules. Blake likes to have fun and is entertaining. They are explosive in the bedroom.

Hilarious
Listening to Alexander Cendese narrate The Joke Script was an entertaining and fun experience. He really did a fantastic job bringing to life the heroes of this tale , Asher and Blake . In my opinion , those are two of the most charming , quirky and relatable characters Lane Hayes have thus far created.
The Jock Script is vintage Ms. Hayes . A low angst , low drama , steamy , romantic , full of heart and humor story , with engaging and likeable main characters and a fantastic cast of secondary characters. Her stories always leave me with a big smile in my face and a lightness in my heart.
Yes, I recommend it.
Yes, I will be re-listening it.

Good story. Good narration.
This was another wonderful addition to "The Script Club" series. Asher could be a bit over-the-top nerdy, but Blake balanced him out by being a jock with some nerd cred. The push and pull between them is a little sweet and a little steamy with just a dash of angst thrown in.
Overall, a great read with an entertaining tie-in to the first book of the series. This book can be read/listened to as a stand-alone, but why would you deprive yourself of a chance to enjoy more of the writing and narrating team of Lane Hayes and Alexander Cendese.

Convincing
This is book #3 in The Script Club series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to understand the series, I recommend reading this series in order.
Asher has felt lonely for too long. He has been busy with work and finally making time for himself. When the hookup of his choice shows up and is more than promised - it frightens him with what could go wrong.
Blake is excited that he ends up with what he wanted. When this gets more complicated, he is not sure how to move forward. Then he finds out just how complicated it is going to be.
The story is solid and moves at a good steady pace. The narrator is really good, which enhances the book itself. I was really relaxed and listening, enjoying each chapter. This author is a 1-click for me and this is another reason why.

Sweet and geeky and hot.
I read and reviewed The Jock Script when it came out as an eBook less than a month ago but I didn’t hesitate request a review copy of the audiobook when I was offered one. Once again, Alexander Cendese did a great job with the audiobook and I ended up listening much more intently than expected when listening to a book that I’ve read so recently.
I really can’t add anything to my original review of the eBook so it’s shown below:
The Jock Script is the third book in The Script Club series but can easily be read as a standalone. When required, the author gives you information you might need on secondary characters who have already had their stories told in the first two books.
Asher is incredibly smart. He’s also very analytical and a bit OCD; he can’t stand to have things out of order. Blake is a lacrosse coach and a teacher at an exclusive private school. He’s been hiding his bisexuality from everyone for years but meeting Asher – by way of a hookup app – has him wanting to be out. He enlists Asher’s help to figure out a plan on how to come out. What was supposed to be a one-time hookup develops into more when neither of them can seem to keep their hands off of each other.
I love Asher in all of his geeky glory. He knows who he is and is out and proud. He’s funny and just a delight to read about. Blake is gorgeous and Asher can’t believe that Blake is really interested in him. Blake didn’t intend to fall for Asher but once he admits to himself that he has, he knows he can’t keep hiding his true self much longer.
This story was a quick and easy read for me; the words just flowed and I was finished before I knew it. I’ve been enjoying this geeky series immensely. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by Lane Hayes; she remains firmly on my list of favorite authors!
A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

It's the narration for me...
I shall keep this review short but sweet, just like this audiobook. Like the two books before it, The Jock Script pairs up a geek and jock who find love. The main characters made for winsome twosome, and the story was interesting enough. Admittedly, the Script Club hasn't been my favorite from Lane Hayes, and I've read and listened to all her books to date. The story is entertaining but not as endearing as her past work. Alexander Cendese's narration wins me over yet again. There's a reason why he's one of my favorite go-to narrators, and he's helped elevate the listening experience for me when it comes to this series. Four stars for the story, five stars for the narration, so an overall rating of 4.5 stars for The Jock Script.

Great Laugh Out Loud Book
I have listened to this book about five times, each after just finishing the book, again. The story is cute and laugh-out-loud funny. Alexander Centers does a masterful job of narration and brings the characters to life. This book now takes place among my favorites, alongside authors like Alice Winters. It's a great book for relaxing and letting your worries slip away.
