About this listen
— “Let me break it down for you, kid: You were part of a suicidal, terrorist team who survived his comrades and now refuse to take responsibility for anything, someone who also refuses to cooperate with us in solving this case. That attitude of yours is not helping any; you don’t even seem to have one single bit of remorse for your actions. Many died that night because of you and your friends, you know?”
— “I am very sorry to hear that. But like I said before, I don’t recall what happened that night, nothing at all, not before that girl started humming, that is.” I said in all honesty.
— “Well, we’ve heard that one before but like I said, kid, you need to start talking. I understand you are trying to be loyal to someone but what you guys do is plain wrong. No ideal is worth someone else’s life.”
I tried to change positions on the bed, my back was killing me; it had been two days already since the blast. I wasn’t sure I understood what they were saying or what they wanted from me.
— “Well, I don’t know what to say. I can’t remember…”
— “Joe, what if we tried some hypnosis on the kid, he might remember something then…” Steve said to his partner.
— “Do you honestly think he ‘forgot’ everything he has done?” Joe gave Steve a bad look.
— “Can you tell me more about this terrorist organization you think I belong to?” I asked them.
Both turned to look at me in disbelief. Joe came closer and grabbed me by the hospital robe.
— “You are just toying with us, kid. I’m sure all of this is like some big, funny game to you, you are so out of your mind you don’t even realize that YOU were sent off to die that night. What I figure is that you chickened out in the last minute and tried to save your ass, but you know what? Someone leaked this info to the media and your buddies in ‘the organization’ most probably know by now that you survived the blast. It’s all over the news by now, so I figure it’s only a matter of time before they come finish the job you couldn’t do yourself.”
I felt his breath on my face, and I saw his frustration in his eyes. I thought for the first time I might be in trouble.
