Um. Um. Um. Are you reading this? If you are, I need your help. I was at a party; I was running; I fell. And get this - this is the part you'll never believe - I fell down a rabbit hole. Like Alice in those old books. Except in those books, there wasn't blood everywhere. In those books, the characters weren't all male, attractive, and interested in me.

Story
According to the FBI, I was considered a serial murderer after three kills. What do they call me after fifty-two? They call me the Silencer. One final bullet would have been all it took to stop me from taking another soul, and I would have been doing Meridian City a service by pulling that trigger. An angel crying for help stopped me, and that night, I took three lives for her. Then three turned into eight. Then eight turned into twenty. Twenty turned into twenty-one. Twenty-one turned into twenty-three.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when arriving in Salem. Forced to marry a man I’ve never met, attend a private university I’d never heard of, and the whispers of a rumored secret society filling the halls. This life would be near unbearable with my insufferable fiancé if it wasn’t for his uncle, his best friend, and his enemy. When none of them are willing to let me go, it sends us down a path I’m not sure any of us will survive. The life I was promised is distorted behind smoke and mirrors. The truth cloaked by Deceit.

One heroic act damned me for eternity. With a name like Tor, I should have been a hero, just like my father and twin. Turns out I’m not. Not even close. Instead I’m the very thing we hunted. A depraved monster. I thought there was no escaping the curse. No hope for a future. And then I met my mate in the unlikeliest of places: Blackwood Asylum. A place for criminals. Power-hungry madmen. Supernatural outcasts. And her, the curvaceous writer who sees ghosts.

Story
It's been months since the day we stood above that empty grave that stunk of burnt flesh and secrets. All of us were dressed to the nines, one of us wearing a wedding dress, a day that was supposed to mark the beginning of a new adventure. It marked the bitter end of our vengeance. We have done things that have marked our souls for eternity. But before we get there, we have to go back. Back to where it all started. The place I could find in my sleep.

Free yourself
I first want to start off by saying that I went in to this audiobook knowing nothing. I bought the ebook but when I got a chance to listen to the audiobook. I couldn’t pass that up. I just love the cover. Let me be honest. Retellings are my thing. But I haven’t read one about Jack the Ripper. Really haven’t read to many books about the serial killer.
I haven’t read anything from this author. And damn this won’t be the last book either. I am hoping book 2 comes sooner then later. This book is so intense and spicy world came.
This is by far one of the darkest audiobooks that I have ever listened too. Yes this audiobook took me a little longer to finish. I just couldn’t and wouldn’t rush through this. Something very new to me. And I wanted every detail. I loved the world and the characters this author created. The narrators chef kiss. There was never a moment where I couldn’t stop this book.
Yes there is a lot mention of blood and death and sexual assault.
But if this darkenesss is your cup of tea. I highly recommend this book/audiobook.

Oh my god. This book was absolutely screwed, in the best way possible. Two days on from finishing it and I am still trying to wrap my head around everything that occurred. The writing was beautiful, the character development was impeccable, the storyline. Just, shut up. I ✨𝑐𝑎𝑛’𝑡 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛✨ I loved it so much. Did I know what was going to happen? I had an inkling, but the way it evolved and erupted was just absolute perfection. This baby was dark. Like 𝘿𝘼𝙍𝙆, and yet still so beautiful. The story itself is a standalone, but I need more. In any form I can get it.
But, oh my 𝑔𝑜𝑑. The story itself was absolute gold, and the narration just brought it to life. I can still feel the slither of his voice on my skin. The whisper in the dark. There was a quality to the narrative that immersed me in a way I’ve never experienced. I wouldn’t call it the full cinematic experience that some novels have, but the little sound effects made the whole experience enthralling. 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘥. An absolutely phenomenal job to the narrators @katrina_the_narrator & @wmadisonvox

my favorite narration to date
This dark romance is also very much a horror. There is suspense, murder, gore, and stalking. The author really embraces the dark aspects of the story without any sugar coating, and I love how it all wrapped up.
The dual narration was so well done. I'll never understand how narrators can sound like entirely different people for different perspectives, they excelled at it in this one. This is the first audio I've listened to with sound effects and it really added to the experience, especially as someone who imagines scenes playing in my mind as I read and listen to books. Definitely a favorite audio experience for me!

One of best audiobooks
What a mindf*ck this book was! The author had me thinking one thing for more than half the book then all of a sudden, it hit me like a Mack truck. I was wrong the whole time, and I was blownnnn away at how twisted this story really was. It was dark and gritty, and the author did such an amazing job describing everything. I was fully immersed. Even more so because I was listening to the audio book and reading the physical book at the same time! It was intense. The narrators did such an amazing job bringing this world alive, and it was amazing with all the sound effects. I fell in love with the characters and truly began caring about them. There were points in the book that were so creepy, and in the audiobook they added sound effects of boots crunching, doors opening, creepy music. It was freaking great and I just want everyone to hurry up and read this book!

There aren't words to describe my feelings over this audiobook, but I'll try.
The narration is perfection, the storyline is gripping and the finale...chef's kiss.

Dark psychological thriller
To start I have to say that this was probably one of the best audio narrations I have listened too!! The dual narrations was incredible and then they added sound affects in part that made you feel like you were there. There was a part that you could hear the background music that was playing in the book.
I'm sure the physical book is great but the Audio is a whole experience and this is probably one of the only books I would 💯 recommend the audio over the physical. (And I'm a physical book lover)
Ok now I will warn you... This book is DARK! Like serial killer dark.. And if you're the type that needs a happy ending then this might not be the book for you. It's a jekyll and Hyde/ Jack the Ripper retelling and it's sooo good! Lots of blood and gore so if you have triggers please check the trigger warning as every trigger listed IS IN the book heavy!
Dont let The house of whispers cover fool you into thinking it's just a dark fantasy, this is a dark psychological thriller fantasy that will have you wondering what is real.
FYI you may need to have a drink ready when the book end if your not already drinking because you will need to process the ending. I stared at the wall for an hour drinking wine, trying to process the last 2 hours of the book..

Bloody beautiful
It's absolutely amazing. It was as captivating as the first time i read this. From the beginning, it was a bloody mess but a mess so beautifully violent. The audiobook really sucks you in and holds you until the end. The narrators brought to life this story, and i loved how it was told.

Wow
Every time I read one of Cyn's books, I finish with the thought that it's my favorite, and this one is no exception. I really enjoy an unconventional ending, and wow, what an ending it was! This is certainly not your typical happily ever after. Additionally, I'm usually quite adept at predicting how stories will conclude, but this one kept me guessing. I never anticipated that twist.
Cyn, I am consistently in awe of your writing.
The narration was outstanding. It utilized a dual style that perfectly complemented the story. Both narrators brought the characters to life, making them feel incredibly real. At times, I felt like a bystander rather than just a listener.

Freaky ride enveloped in darkness ✨🌑✨
Well!! This was a freaky ride and i loved it ❤️
I loved this book sooo much that i purchased a hard copy.
I enjoyed every stage of the book. There was not a single moment of boredom. If darkness is your friend - then this book is perfect choice for you. Spice, blood and tension. I cant wait for the book 2. The narrators did a perfect job. Both were excellent choices for the main characters. I fell in love with the male narrator's voice ❤️
I will definitely listen to this book again!
