Fleeing a recent tragedy, antiques expert Katherine seeks refuge in Blackstone, Oregon, a tiny town nestled in the shadow of majestic Mt. Hood. But her sanctuary soon becomes a nightmare when she stumbles upon the long-abandoned Blackstone mansion, its dark halls whispering with secrets.

As Katherine explores the labyrinthine rooms filled with priceless antiques, she realizes she's not alone. In the shadows, she can see the tiniest movements, feel the deepest chills, and hear the faintest sounds. The restless spirit of a young woman reaches out to her, desperate to be heard.

Determined to help put the ghost to rest, Katherine delves into the mansion's tragic past. With the aid of unlikely new friends, she uncovers a history of jealousy, unrequited love, and murder. But the truth is far more sinister than she could have imagined.

Caught in a dangerous web of lies and deception, Katherine's time is running out. The spirits of Blackstone mansion are awakening, and they hunger for more than just justice. To free the ghost and save herself, Katherine must confront the darkness within the mansion's walls – even if it costs her her sanity... or her life.

In this chilling tale of supernatural suspense, the past refuses to stay buried, and the line between the living and the dead blurs with every passing shadow.

Love the book hate the narration.

I didn’t like the AI reading the story. It lacks human like qualities. Also idk how everyone sounded British and they were from Oregon and New York. The story was amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Poor AI narration, rushed resolution

Took a chance on AI narration because subject seemed fun.
Was able to get through full book but it was distracting. It struggled with special characters so ‘e-mail’ was weird and incorrect every time, anything beyond a common two-syllable English name was beyond it.
The story itself was pretty fun but the pacing was off. After a slow burn first half it went 180 the other way and rushed the ending with a supernatural ‘in their shoes’ exposition. Seemed like the authour didn’t know how to make it end.
Some odd details in there but overall ok story.

Virtual voice

The story was good but the virtual voice ruined it. The virtual voice made it very difficult to understand what was happening in the story. I was really disappointed

Slow moving

The story was not half bad but the narration by virtual voice was very disappointing. It was like listening to maps telling me which street to take next. Narration by a human with emotion would have made the book for me much better.
Sorry but virtual voice is something I will stay away from when purchasing an audible book.

Horrible Virtual Voice Narration and bits of the plot were a bit unlikely

The part of the plot about being thrown out of the apartment in an hour or the mansion owner not vouching for Kat too annoying and far fetched. The ghost story part was well written. Overall plot was good.

The story

Did not like the use of the virtual voice. It did not sound right and robotic at times.

Was this an auto voice?! No difference in any of the characters voices. I hated this so much.

Amazing storyline

I loved the suspense in finding out what was going to happen next for Kat. Artificial narration was not the best at times, but understandable
