About this listen
A guardian reborn faces a destiny he cannot evade. The Queen’s Blade saga continues.
Zaren Joha, once a formidable soldier, now chases the arcane mysteries of Busal City. No longer just a warrior; his path has shifted. The relative calm is a welcome change, but it's a fragile peace.
In a world where his combat skills are secondary, he chases the hidden and often dangerous magic that pulsates within the city. The discovery of a strange—and powerful—powder leads him toward a discovery that forces him to reconsider everything he’s known.
He must navigate a realm where power shifts like the waves in the harbor, and where his journey to protect the queen thrusts him into the heart of a conspiracy that threatens the realm.
Zaren must rise as the Queen's Blade and embrace a destiny that intertwines his very essence with magic.

Story
In the city of Verdholm, canals separate the highborns in the center sections of the city from the lowborns along the outer sections. The city is isolated, surrounded by a deadly swamp and steam fields which should protect the people of the city from the dangerous outside world. Until it doesn't. For Sam, an orphaned thief who wants only to protect her brother, protection means stealing enough so she can one day buy her way into a better section. She's a skilled thief, and when she's offered a job that can change everything for her, what choice does she have but to take it?

Virtual voice does not belong on Audible
The story is ok, but it does repeat the same thing multiple times through out the book and it gets a little annoying. The virtual voice would be fine for a person you are talking to, but it does not belong on Audible's platform. It is simply speech to text and it cannot understand the sentences, paragraphs, story, or speakers. Emphasis is wrong. There is no ability to capture the mood. There are times where it is difficult to know which person is speaking. It is simply a monotone. On an audio book site you expect to have a voice actor to make the books enjoyable. I don't recommend purchasing any of these audio books. If it is free go for it.

leaps in logic
I really wanted more from the threads that were started. The novel has a compelling premise. The magic was neat. The mentor student relationship sounded like a good idea too.

Virtual voice is a little off, but ok
The storyline is good. The virtual voice is not perfected, but it isn't terrible either. I look forward to seeing what the future holds with improvements to this style of AI voice narration.

Lack of inflection
The AI narrator wasn’t so great. Mispronouncing words and lacking inflection on the story telling.
