Story
"These are the hidden sayings that the living Jesus spoke and Didymos Judas Thomas wrote down." With this opening statement, the Gospel of Thomas, legendary Apostle to the East, introduces a startlingly profound list of Jesus' ancient Wisdom sayings. Similar to the collections of quotations copied by the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Thomas' Gospel contains a hundred and fourteen sayings, half of which don't appear in the New Testament. Once known from only a handful of ancient sources, third-century Greek fragments of this Gospel first turned up at the end of the nineteenth century – but ...

Story
Perhaps no figure in biblical scholarship has been the subject of more controversy and debate than Mary Magdalene. Although she is discussed in the gospels of Philip, Thomas, Peter, and Bartholomew in the collection of writings known as the Gnostic gospels that were rejected by the early Christian church, there is no better insight into this mysterious and influential woman than Mary's own gospel.

Story
The long-lost Gospel of Philip, shrouded in mystery since its composition in fourth-century Egypt, reveals ancient mystical teachings of Near Eastern Christians. Completely forgotten until its discovery in 1945, this enigmatic text explains the inner mysteries of the Church’s historic sacraments and key Christian teachings, including the resurrection of the dead, the virgin birth, divine union, and spiritual rebirth. What’s the hidden meaning of “the bridal chamber”? What kind of relationship did Jesus have with Mary Magdalene? What does it mean to become a Christian? Philip’s ...

Story
In this new translation of the Gospel of Thomas, Leloup shows that the Jesus recorded by the "infinitely skeptical and infinitely believing" Thomas has much in common with gnostics of non-dualistic schools. Like them, Jesus preaches the coming of a new man, the genesis of the man of knowledge. In this gospel, Jesus describes a journey from limited to unlimited consciousness. The Jesus of Thomas invites us to drink deeply from the well of knowledge within, not so that we may become good Christians but so we may attain the self-knowledge that will make each of us, too, a Christ.

The content
The numbers of the passages got in the way of the message but the content is good

Actually reading the verse number.
It was very distracting that the verse number was read in “real time” as the reader read through the gospel. I could not finish. It’s awful.

He reads the scripture number
Reading the scripture numbers through is so distracting and you can’t really hear the message. It’s Like Rain Man keeps interrupting. It’s kind of horrible. The narrator needs to learn how to read scripture, by pronouncing each line number you take away from the flow and don’t relay the word properly the numbers are silent, unless they are conveying part of the message. Please update this.

impossible to listen to
It's not so much the robotic and tinny sounding voice of the virtual reader but the numerical verse announcement the that interrupts the text.

worst thing I've heard on audible
the computer generated translation reads the numbers for all the footnotes so it's nearly impossible to listen to the actual text fortunately I already heard it before and you can find it for free on YouTube.
the introduction was clearly biased when it presented the viewpoints for and against this text I would suggest you find another source for the arguments against its authenticity. I hope it was a blast for him because it was certainly a blasphemy.

Use of AI voice made this unlistenable! The irony.
I’m sure the content is good. And if a human had read it, it would probably be fine. So sad. Almost like they don’t want anyone to have this information. I’d love a listen when it is not AI read.
