About this listen
In the midst of a Manhattan snowstorm, Hammer halts the violent robbery of a pair of college sweethearts who have stumbled onto a remarkable archeological find in the Valley of Elah: the perfectly preserved femur of what may have been the biblical giant Goliath. Hammer postpones his marriage to his faithful girl Friday, Velda, to fight a foe deadlier than the mobsters and KGB agents of his past: Islamic terrorists and Israeli extremists bent upon recovering the relic for their own agendas.
Completed after Spillane's death by his frequent collaborator, Max Allan Collins, this thriller is as classic as Spillane's own I, the Jury and as contemporary as The Da Vinci Code.

When Sam Spade gets drawn into the Maltese Falcon case, we know what to expect: straight talk, hard questions, no favors, and no way for anyone to get underneath the protective shell he wears like a second skin. We know that his late partner, Miles Archer, was a son of a bitch; that Spade is sleeping with Archer's wife, Iva; that his tomboyish secretary, Effie Perine, is the only innocent in his life. What we don't know is how Spade became who he is. Spade & Archer completes the picture.

Story
Red Harvest, which was originally published in four issues of Black Mask from November 1927 to February 1928, is acclaimed as one of the essential detective novels, giving birth to a darker turn than classic great detectives such as Sherlock Holmes. Drawing from his personal experiences as an operative with the Pinkerton Detective Agency, Hammett portrays a dark, violent world full of gangsters, corrupt cops, and flawed detectives hired to clean up the place. André Gide called Red Harvest "a remarkable achievement, the last word in atrocity, cynicism, and horror."

Too Much
Stacy Keach is brilliant as usual. His performance as Mike Hammer continues to make him Mike Hammer. This story is just too long for me. It should have been several chapters shorter. It is like a movie that takes to long to get to the point. Or as in this case a book that should have reached its climax a couple of thousand words ago. I enjoyed the story overall. I didn’t like some parts like what happened to the bone. Nor the fate of the parents. And especially a long time friend and companion. I am a happily ever after guy.

Great pulp mystery
I used to love watching Stacey Keach as Mike Hammer on tv as a kid but western pulp and murder mystery’s have never been my thing. I was not disappointed in picking this as lighter fair from classics and hard moderns.

Mickey Spillane
I always enjoy Mickey Spillane's rough detective novels. I enjoyed the narration of this one since it came from actors and help clarify the story a whole lot more for me.

The Goliath Bone narrated by Stacy Keach
I really enjoyed this book. It was my first time listening to a Mickey Spillane book. And I was intrigued by Stacy Keach narrating a book as I had not heard him do a book before.
I am so glad I purchased this book as it was done after the Twin Towers were taken down instead of in the past.
Being more in the here and now made it pertinent to today’s problems yet gave the book a good old fashioned feel of good winning out over bad.
I loved that even though the detective was ready to retire, he had not lost his edge nor his ability to be one step ahead of the various and sundry bad guys.
Mikes steadfast love for Zelda never wavered and young love prevailed. Even through out the mystery.
The bottom line is this book had a little bit for everyone . Old,young or teenager would enjoy this book.
I recommend it highly.

The Goliath Bone
This is a great book. I'm looking for new series and this is as good as it gets. Mike Hammer is a P.I. and does whatever it takes to get the job done. Mike saves a couple of kids from getting killed and then helps them out. They have found a very very old bone that is worth millions and people are willing to kill for it. I highly recommend this book and series. Stacy Keach does an excellent job narrating this book. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you.
