About this listen

Set against the turbulent and glamorous backdrop of Prohibition and the rise of the Jazz Age, The Gin Lovers was first published as a six-part e-serial. Now this sensual and romantic story of how one high-society woman's passion and courage lead her to love is available for the first time ever as a complete audiobook.

It's 1925, and the Victorian era, with its confining morals, is all but dead. Unfortunately for New York socialite Charlotte Delacorte, the scandalous flapper revolution is little more than a headline in the tabloids. She lives her rigid and controlling husband, William, but her Fifth Avenue townhouse is a gilded cage. But when William's rebellious younger sister, the beautiful and brash Mae, comes to live with them after the death of their mother, Charlotte finds entrée to a world beyond her wildest dreams - and a handsome and mysterious stranger whom she imagines is as confident in the bedroom as he is behind the bar of his forbidden speakeasy.

Soon Charlotte realizes that nothing is as it seems. Secrets are kept and discovered, loves are lost and found, and Charlotte finds herself on the brink of losing everything - or having it all.

I find it very hard to find audiobooks that really are capable of pulling me in instantly, this book did that the entire length! I was completely enthralled and felt absolutely connected to each and every character. The main thing that shows me how amazing this book is is the fact that my fiancé actually listened to it and enjoyed it with me and that says a lot!!!highly recommend this title because I know everyone will enjoy it as much as I did!

Long time audiobook listener and this is at the top of my list

I was hooked right from the beginning and I stayed that way throughout! The narration was perfect, I loved the story. I have nothing but positive things to say. I’m very glad I listened to it!

This was a nice long story to entertain on a long drive from VA to FL, but there are many inconsistencies and incorrect portrayals of historical social norms or behaviors. William and Charlotte would not have shared a bedroom and their home would have had more than one guest room. A big deal was made about Fiona not wearing undies but then a bit about her undressing for the cop discusses her bloomers. I don't know why my brain focused on those aspects. I was mildly entertained but the story was predictable and the characters actions were a bit contrived. They came off as dim-witted. The narration was well done with a few moments that left me slightly confused about which character was "talking". I wouldn't get too excited about this listen, but it was included in my subscription so I can't be too critical. I appreciated the distraction from the drive.

Very intriguing story. I kept waiting for it all to blow up, but was glad it ended happily. Wish the ending would have elaborated a bit more and included some more characters and how it ended for them, but I guess we get to imagine our own happy endings for them that way.

Good listen

The story line was great! Character development was there. There were sexy scenes, but nothing too explicit. More rated R than anything. As much as I want to give this book 5 stars, I cannot bring myself to do it. The ending is ridiculous. I cannot imagine why the author thought ending it on a cliff hanger was the way to go. Once all was said and done I felt robbed. I'm not one for the happy ever after endings, but an ending of some kind what of been better than nothing.

I felt robbed at the end,

I really enjoyed this book. Some complained about the abrupt ending but I was satisfied. Primary characters' decisions were determined, albeit briefly, and one can easily imagine the continuing lives of the secondary characters.

Compelling
