About this listen
Lad from the streets meets lord of the manor. Both men's lives will be changed forever.
When Sir Alan Watleigh goes searching for sex, he never imagines the street rat he brings home for one last bit of pleasure in his darkest hour will be the man who hauls him back from the edge of the grave. Despite his harsh life in the slums of London, Jem is a bright, cheerful young man. He's also witty, irreverent, glib, and makes Alan laugh - a rare occasion since wartime trauma and the death of his family have made the man a ghost of his former self.
A single night of meaningless sex turns into an offer of permanent employment. Jem acts as Alan's valet, but offers him so much more than polished boots and starched cravats. Just as the men are adjusting to their new living arrangement, news about a former soldier under his command sends Sir Watleigh and Jem on the road to save a child in danger.
The journey brings them closer together as they travel from lust toward love. They rescue the girl from the clutches of an insane surgeon, who is as interested in experimenting on the vulnerable human spirit as he is on physical bodies. Alan realizes his love for Jem when he nearly loses him, but is Alan's love strong enough to risk society discovering the truth about him? And is he strong enough to finally accept his sexual nature?

Story
Valentine Layton, the Duke of Malvern, has twin problems: literally. It was always his father’s hope that Valentine would marry Miss Arabella Tarleton. But, unfortunately, too many novels at an impressionable age have caused her to grow up...romantic. So romantic that a marriage of convenience will not do and after Valentine’s proposal she flees into the night determined never to set eyes on him again. Arabella’s twin brother, Mr. Bonaventure “Bonny” Tarleton, has also grown up...romantic. And fully expects Valentine to ride out after Arabella.

Ahh. A MM Historical Romance
MM Romance has fast become my favorite genre. I admit to avoiding this story every time it came up in my search because it was set in the past. Back when social standing ruled everything. Which a person born in this time could not understand or relate to. However, I found this book to be so interesting. I was very much drawn to Jem and Sir Alan's characters.
Sir Alan's struggle against his feelings for Jem actually transcends time and could easily be a well off person from this day and age in which homosexuality is frowned upon. Jem's personality and how he deals with any situation he finds himself in is so relatable to me. I loved it.
I must also stop having biases against listening to books with narrators with British accents. This narration was great and I was so drawn into the story by his performance that it felt more like I was watching a movie than listening to an audiobook.
Great listen all in all and if you do not have Audible Escape, it is well worth the credit to get it.

Sexy Historical
A story with a lot of humor and hot 🔥 sexy times.
I always enjoyed reading/listening romantic historical romances but in recent years nothing in that genre caught my attention. My standards have been set high by authors such Diana Gabaldon, Amanda Quick and Lisa Kleypas to name some of my favorites ; that was true, until I found this book and "discovered" Summer Devon and Bonnie Dee. Their delightful tale left me laughing, hot and bother and utterly content.
As well, this is my first book narrated by Jasper Dr Montfort ; he did a good job.

M/M Escape
This was a fun escape from the currently reality. The story read like a fanfic I once read, but that's a compliment as most fanfic I have read is as good as or better than many novels. The narration and just meh. There was no emotion to it, which took from the story. Not bad, but not great.

Romantic, Thrilling, Humorous, Erotic
The story of Sir Allen and his Valet Jim is one that I honestly can say I really enjoyed. The story starts off as a dark murky erotic encounter but truly transforms into something warm and entertaining as you get to know the characters and they each other.
This book actually is one of my first M Love M Regency stories, but has truly made me fall in love with the genre. The descriptive details of the writing is what did it for me. It made the scenarios 3x’s more vivid, and the sex 10x’s more hotter.
Towards the end you get a little bit of back story and character rounding and even a little thrill, but it ends leaving you entertained, fulfilled, and aroused.
Ps. Jim MADE the book for me. He’s so funny and cheerful.

Such Heart-swelling Romance💝
This story has everything!
A brooding, principled, handsome hero who struggles with his wounds and needs.
A delicious, unfettered young man who's wit and beauty barely disguise his wisdom and depth of character.
A sadistic and perverse villain who is in possession of a little girl needing rescuing.
And a lot of ROMANCE with very EROTIC love scenes!
This is a beautifully written love story. It would make any reader sigh with giddiness by the end. It is, obviously, a gay romance. But I wish it were listed next to all the other Historical Romances. More people need to hear it.
Yay for love!!
Other reviewers may not have liked the narrator, but I enjoyed him very much.
