About this listen

Foxxxy Rule Number One: Never fall for a client.

Christian Webber is femme, fabulous, and an absolute freaking mess. Although he loves his chaotic life, his cherished friends, and his job dancing and escorting at the exclusive Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club, he’s also 29, single, and facing down the very real possibility of turning into a lonely, old cat lady. But an encounter with a client’s jaded son may change everything.

Gordon van Dierman has his life figured out. He owns a business, a house, and a dog with his partner of seven years, but when he learns of his partner’s infidelity, the grumpy Dutchman abandons everything he’s built and returns to his childhood home in America to lick his wounds in peace. But a run-in with a feisty, gender-fluid escort may be just what the doctor ordered.

When Chrissy and Gordon’s lives collide, it’s hate at first sight, to be sure, but the fire between them may be more than simple loathing. You know what they say: Love and hate are horns on the same goat - or however that expression goes.

Chrissy knows better than to fall for a client. But the rules don’t say anything about a client’s son, do they?

Enjoyed It a Lot

I enjoyed this story so much and discovered a new to me author. I liked both characters, Cristian with his fun one liners and quotes from my favorite TV show, and Gordon a grumpy grouch turned into a nice guy...eventually. I liked how their relationship developed and character development their feelings inspired. Narrator did a good job with both voices, it took me a bit to get used to his voice for Christian, but I loved the voice he gave Gordon right away. Overall this was a very good listening experience and I am looking forward to more stories in FoXXXy club series.

Chrissy and Gordon

I ADORED Chrissy. Brash, confident, determined, and stubborn. Lord is that man stubborn! Gordon is also stubborn and opinionated. I liked that both his father and Chrissy stood up to his temper tantrum and he actually stopped and listened, he took some time to work through things and then worked to build a better relationship with each of them. I liked too that Gordon was willing to fight for Chrissy but ONLY if it was what Chrissy wanted. Chrissy's compromises about his job made me smile because, even with that, he did it his own way.

Audiobook: I so thoroughly enjoyed the narrator's voices for each of the characters.

Low angst & great banter!

Great banter and determination brings two very different men to finding their person.  I loved Chrissy's snarky, independent, driven and stubborn self.  I enjoyed how with growth he found an avenue to a compromise that was from his heart.  Gordon also had some real growth, after his temper he learned to listen and think about other perspectives and that enabled him to find passion and a real relationship.

Wonderful supporting characters.  I really enjoyed the low angst and light hearted plot and the book will touch your heart.

I was not a fan of this narrator for this story.

This one is a scorcher

There is a thin line between live and hate, although I doubt Christian and Gordon really hated each other all that much in the beginning. Gordon holds on to some ideas that he eventually realizes were unfounded. Chrissy is unashamedly femme and fabulous and isn't afraid to tell anyone that he doesn't need rescuing. These two are fuel and a lit match, ready to go up in flames. I enjoyed the story and it has some great side characters, including Jan, Gordon's dad. I have to warn you though that the demon wearing a cat suit named Mr Jingles is a total scene stealer. The narrator did a good job with this one.

Chrissy sass is so good

Low angst + snark + frenemies + off-the-charts sexual chemistry = your next must read. You’re welcome.

The only thing I didn’t love was the narrator’s Boston accent for Chrissy. It was forced.

I liked christian (chrissy)

This was a new to me series, author and narrator. The story had good detail to background and character development, narrator did a good job making each character have their own distinctive sound.

Great Story !

This book is funny funny funny ! The author does an amazing job of presenting these two characters that are so unlikely to mesh but cannot resist one another . The story moves along nicely , the side characters are so well developed I had to stop to see if maybe this wasn’t the first book in the series .
What I especially liked is that the sexy times are presented more realistically that most books in this genre - but remain sexy times .(example: when they kiss there’s no “he tasted like sunshine & cherries “ .. he “tasted like greasy Chinese and beer but I didn’t care because it was him and I couldn’t get enough (I don’t remember the exact words). There is real talk about one time being all he can handle (instead of three times in an hour like some books try )
I loved this book!
I have some small issues with the narrator - certain pronunciations are way off and his apparent inability to adjust tone while doing Chrissy’s accent (regular conversation and sexy time talk are spoken at the same volume, speed and pace) but he does a great job with the Dutch !
There’s also a great subplot with Jan and the author presents Chrissy & Gordon’s personalities and difficulties “getting over themselves” in a way that is reality based and genuine without being angsty.
I definitely recommend

Christian and Gordon's Frenemies-to-Lovers Romance

After finishing this book, I had the urge to start it again immediately. This is my personal gauge for what makes a story terrific. I don’t know all the literary terms to describe a great story; I just know what works for me. This one WORKS for me. I requested this audiobook as a free review copy and I’m going to attempt to convey what it is I love about it. The following statements are my honest and voluntary review.

Christian is smart, ambitious and loyal. He’s also sassy and sarcastic. He’s femme and doesn’t give even one sh*t what people think of him. He works for the Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club as an exotic dancer and sometimes escort, and does so proudly. He’s terrified of falling in love. When he meets Gordon, he seriously can’t resist pushing the man’s buttons. Gordon, for his part, can’t resist LETTING Chrissy push his buttons.

The story has a light rom-com feel to it. There’s some truly hilarious bantering dialogue. The mood gets a little heavy after Gordon finds out what Chrissy does for a living. Thankfully, they act like the adults they are. There is no angst-fest. They work things out like grown-ups. Knight’s 1st person POV is on superb display here. Not many authors, in my estimation, are capable of adding this much realness to the characterizations as Knight does.

This is my first time listening to a narration by John York. I want to listen to more from him. The characters are perfectly acted. I loved it.

Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
