About this listen
1305 A.D. Being descended from a great though disgraced family can be a greater curse than most. As a direct descendent of Simon de Montfort, Lady Gray de Montfort Serroux has lived her life with the axe of shame hanging over her head. Because of this, her marriage matches were limited and she wed a dishonorable man who widowed her when he was murdered in a gambling game.
Left with a young daughter to support, Gray and her daughter and her mother have been living in poverty. But now her daughter is approaching marriageable age and Gray's conniving, haughty mother plots to marry the girl to the first wealthy man who offers for her hand. Meanwhile, an army of mercenaries seeks shelter at Gray's crumbling castle. Their leader, Sir Braxton de Nerra, is a knight bannerette.
Not sworn to a single liege, he travels with his mercenaries and has accumulated a good deal of wealth fighting other people's battles. Taken with the beautiful Lady Gray even as the lady's mother tries to force the granddaughter upon him, Braxton finds himself drawn into the desperate life they lead at the Castle Erith. As Braxton and Gray fall in love, Gray's mother, the evil Constance, continues to wreak havoc, now aimed at the man who so desperately loves her daughter.
Join Braxton as he fights for his new home, his new family, and is finally forced into the ultimate act of self-sacrifice to save those he loves.

Story
1200 AD - In the time following the death of Richard the Lionheart and the ascension of his brother, John, to the throne of England, a plot against the new king is hatched from an unexpected place - deep within the bowels of The Lateran Palace in Rome. It is rumored that the Pope himself is behind it. It is a plot so dark, and so dastardly, that William Marshal needs men who specialize in dark and dirty games in order to save a king they all hate, yet a king that England desperately needs.

Story
A decorated knight for Richard the Lionheart and an ally of the House of de Lohr, Sir Garret de Moray was a man described as cold, intimidating, foreboding. A man with eyes as black as night. Receiving a royal appointment as Captain of the Household Guard, there was no man more qualified or prepared for the role because on the sands of the Holy Land where Garret went on Richard’s great quest, the Christian armies whispered of a knight whose wisdom was ancient. Some wondered if he was the walking dead, an immortal soul who had lived many lifetimes over, because his skill and power exceeded earthly restraints. Kronos, they called him. The father of the gods. Then came a lady without hope…

I'm a new Big Fan of Kathryn Le Veque Novels!
If you could sum up The Falls of Erith in three words, what would they be?
Love, Betrayal, Intrigue
What did you like best about this story?
The way it was written
Have you listened to any of Brian J. Gill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the second book I purchased that was narrated by Brian J. Gill. I plan on purchasing more of her audio books and I will look for the ones narrated by Brian and get those first. He is very very good. In fact, I would say he is in my top three favorites of all time.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I'm not good at tag lines

Really Enjoyed ... But
KLV is one of my favorite authors. I thoroughly enjoyed this book without a doubt, but I felt there are some loose ends to the story. I am not one to give spoilers so I won't mention where. I love Braxton's character. He is true to his profession. His relationship with Grey is love at first sight and this makes for an interesting story.

Love At First Sight
An older man and mercenary Sir Braxton de Nerra happens upon Grey Serroux without a second to spare. From there the story grows and the plot twists. Amongst the opportunists and plotters Lady Grey's mother turns out to be the worst villian of all. Full of action and adventure and great narration, I highly recommend this stand alone tale.

Overall moving story from beginning to end
Would you listen to The Falls of Erith again? Why?
I love to listen to all of Kathryn Le Veque's books over and over as I always realize I've missed something the first time around.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lady Gray because she never gives up and stays strong and true throughout
Which scene was your favorite?
When Braxton throws down his sword and armor to be with his lady wife
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
I have recommended this to several of my friends and hope that the author will continue to write in this era. I would also love her to write about Highlanders as Scotland and Scottish men are always an enjoyable read.
