About this listen

The Dumb Dumb’s Handbook is an overview of the Recruitment Industry, from both sides of the fence, and the art of professional Ghosting by those who work within it. The recruitment industry’s dirty little secret is, that no one will admit to it, and yet it’s par for the course. It is both informative, humorous, and looks at the recruitment industry in today’s modern high tech world. An ideal handbook for Recruiters, and Candidates alike.

With a decade and a half under my belt, I feel the content herein, represents a fairly honest appraisal of the industry I survived in for so long. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all of those who have, over the years, provided the necessary material to enable me to produce this handbook.

Candidates are normally on their best behaviour, in any discussions with recruitment professionals. They leave the telephone conversation on a high, thinking they have the best CV in their vocation. They are the only person for the role. That the interview you have appointed them for, will be a mere ‘walk in the park,’ as their credentials are so perfectly honed. Post interview, well it’s in the bag of course, you have the job, it’s a certainty. There’s just a start date you need to agree with your new employer. Sadly, the reality of the recruitment world, for both parties I might add, is anything but the case.

Whether you are currently searching for a role, or a recruitment professional in this fast paced world, I hope this Handbook will serve you well. Hopefully, both Recruiters and Candidates alike will reflect upon some of the content. They may recognise themselves in some of the chapters. Perhaps, a wry smile will spread across their chins, as they see the reality of the recruitment world, from both sides of the fence.
