About this listen
A young girl must hurry to solve the murder of an important man before the killer’s actions lead to the destruction of her homeland.
Only 11-years-old, Pingzi Po worries about the secret she has shared with a dragon goddess: Despite being a demon queller, Pingzi doesn’t know how to recognize a demon when she sees one, much less quell one. Even worse, Pingzi is the only demon queller in the entire Far East, and there’s no one who can teach her what she needs to know.
But faced with the urgency of solving a murder, Pingzi believes the killer must be a demon. She’s determined to find and expose him.
When Pingzi and her dragonslayer Benzel track down the clues that can reveal the murderer, everything goes wrong. Soon, Pingzi finds herself in danger. Frightened and alone, she struggles when the city that once celebrated her arrival now turns against her. Pingzi struggles to escape immediate danger…but how long can she elude an unknown killer before she must face the events that will threaten her nation?"

Story
Everyone loves Mathias. Naturally, when he discovers it’s his destiny to save the world, he dives in headfirst, pulling his best friend, Aaslo, along for the ride. However, saving the world isn’t as easy, or exciting, as it sounds in the stories. The going gets rough, and folks start to believe their best chance for survival is to surrender to the forces of evil, which isn’t how the prophecy goes. At all. As the list of allies grows thin and the friends find themselves staring death in the face, they must decide how to become the heroes they were destined to be.

Story
From the internationally best-selling author of the Sword of Truth series comes a new Richard and Kahlan novella. "They are the monsters under the bed when you are little, the shape just caught out of the corner of your eye when you thought you were alone, the shadow of something in a dark corner that surprises you and then isn't there. They stop you dead with a knot of unexpected terror in the pit of your stomach. I think that the star shift has brought us closer to their realm so that they now have the power to step into our world and hurt us."

Story
So many stories begin the same way: With a prophecy. A chosen one. And the inevitable quest to slay a villain, save the kingdom, and fulfill a grand destiny. But this is not that kind of story. It does begin with a prophecy: A child will rise to defeat the Eternal Khan, a cruel immortal god-king, and save the kingdom. And that prophecy did anoint a hero, Jian, raised since birth in luxury and splendor, and celebrated before he has won a single battle.

A very interesting story
For an 11 year old mistress Pingzi Po knows her stuff. She is a very determined girl. I was holrrified when she was promised. I was very happy when she freed herself from the recipient of the promise. In the end the dragon goddess delivered justice. I did not see that coming. Great story

The Demon Queller series continues to develop!
The second book in the Demon Queller series and it continues to build upon Pingzi in her world. The story, MC, and supporting characters continue to grow and the plot moves along at a good pace. A nice clean book written for adults. I look forward to book 3! Audio Version: Resa Nelson is one author/narrator that is growing on me! Typically I do not enjoy authors who narrate their own works, but Resa continues to get better and more comfortable with this role as well.

It's interesting.
Some authors spice up their story when they narrate it - some stick to reading it. I prefer the former.

A charming fantasy for all ages
I so enjoyed this second book. Pingzi Po is a very special girl, observant, perceptive and loving. As the only Demon Queller in the Far East, Pingzi Po with her dragonslayer companion, Benzal the Wolf, are invited to the festival of the Dragon Bells in a distant province. The festival commemorates the Quelling of Demons by the first Demon Queller. Although uncertain how to identify and quell demons, she accepts her role. Once in Ti-Song province, Pingzi Po is faced with untangling a murder and unmasking a demon.
Resa Nelson narrates her own book and does this really well. Cadence and clarity are excellent, nicely paced.

Great follow-on story in the Pingzi Po stories
About a year ago I read Dragon Bells and loved it. Recently I was offered a review copy of the audiobook from the author through StoryOrigin and jumped to take advantage of the opportunity. This episode of the Demon Queller stories finds Pingzi questioning her ability as the Demon Queller as she represents the Emperor at the Dragon Bell Festival. This episode has several levels to the story woven expertly making it a very compelling story to read. I will have to say that listening after reading last year was an excellent opportunity to not only refamiliarize myself with Pingzi’s story, but to notice even more about the levels of the story. There is so much more to the story than a simple story about a Demon Queler and a Demon. But to figure out those facets of the story you will need to read/listen to it for yourself. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the story is expertly narrated by the author, Resa Nelson.

Fun fantasy mystery
I really enjoyed this story - I have read several books by the author, and enjoyed them. The story was interesting, the world that it is set in was well built, and the characters were believable. This heroine of this story is a child, and while it didn't feel like it was written for children I'm sure it would be a good listen for middle grades. There was a murder, but no gratuitous violence, and no language, innuendo, or other "adult" content - if it was a tv show or movie I would expect a pg rating just because it is a murder mystery. I always appreciate a book written for adults but with clean content.
I did feel like it isn't obvious that this book is written to fit into the world introduced in the Dragon Seed series of books, it referenced the back story of the main characters, and without reading both series it isn't obvious where this book fits in.
I really enjoyed the story, but didn't find the narration by the author easy to listen too. The characters had distinct voices, but the reading was slow, and overly enunciated. In the future I will probably just read the books instead of listening to the author's narration.
