4th graders love it!!
We read this story as a class, and my students loved it.
The plot was captivating and thrilled them to the point where they wanted to continue reading, even if time was up.
We had great discussions and predictions of what was going to happen.
I highly recommend this story!!!!

nostalgic story from my youth
this was my favorite book when I was young
I lived to revisit it this way
I always wished for an amazing doll house like the one in the story
I can remember the chill that went down my spine when I read certain parts of this as a little girl
it was my first introduction to a "scary" story

Childhood favorite
My mom read this story to me and my brother many times before bed for years. It terrified me at that point in my life. It began a lifelong journey of loving murder mysteries. I didn't care for the person reading the story. Too many of the people reading stories on audible are annoying. That is my critic'.

holds up!
I definitely read this book several times as a kid. as an adult I was a little apprehensive to revisit it, but wanted a dose of nostalgia. Holds up better than a lot of books from my childhood. the protagonists responses to situations felt mostly very real for a kid her age, which I appreciated. A good read for kids, and okay read is an adult if you want something pretty easy and a dose of nostalgia for what it's like to be a kid with an interest in mysteries.
