The story is quite good, but the flat narration of a computer voice was very distracting. Not only was there a lack of feeling and intonation, the pauses were narrated as “dash” and the hesitances of speech were read as letters of the alphabet. Please do not ruin good stories with virtual voice. It’s not worth it!!

A good story with terrible narration

This is my second virtual voice book. It wasn’t as bad as the first. There were a few problems I noticed, mostly with the “dash!” exclamations. This one didn’t have the same problems I had with the first VV book in that I wasn’t confused who was talking. Most likely this was due to the writing, certainly not from the AI reading all voices the exact same.

The story was fine. I will say it didn’t end the way I expected or wanted it to end.

Nothing remarkable here

I didn’t like the hero. I couldn’t understand the heroine’s persistent attachment to him. My opinion of him didn’t improve him when he finally explained his reasons for being unkind to the h. (They were unconvincing based on his past behavior towards her).
Virtual voice mispronounces the same words in this book that it does in all VV narrated Regency romances… It makes me wonder whether any human being actually listens to the completed audiobook before it’s released to the general public.

It would have been 4 stars, but …
