Nothing exciting EVER happens in the tiny town of Alamo, Texas. But that doesn't stop feisty fifteen-year-old Crystal O'Mally from dreaming of becoming a top notch detective, just like her hero. However, things quickly get out of control as clues don't add up, the suspect list grows rapidly, and a mysterious shadow always seems to be one step ahead of her. Throw in an overeager "helpful" eight-year-old sister, Emma, and a cute guy who insists on tagging along, followed by a best friend suddenly keeping secrets, and Crystal starts second-guessing her career choice.

However, she's soon in a race against time to find the real culprit before the town plays judge, jury, and executioner with her father. Can she get to the bottom of the caper before he's thrown in jail for a crime he did not commit? Or has her career stopped before it even started?
