About this listen
Abby thought she was running away from her problems, but she wound up running into the arms of her worst nightmare.
"....from this point forward your will is no longer your own. You belong to me."
I thought I had found the perfect guy. Jake was handsome and sexy, and had eyes that could get me to do just about anything. The problem? The thought of being in love scared the hell out of me, so I called it quits and ran before I got in any deeper, driving off into a crazy winter storm.
When I woke up the next day, I was in a strange hospital and slowly came to the realization that I was being drugged and held there against my will by my ex-boyfriend Jake. He claims he's someone else though, a doctor in this dark, creepy private hospital in the middle of nowhere, but I know it's him, and I don't know how I'm going to get out of here.

Story
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

Crazy dark
This book starts of with a monologue by Abby, our main character, in her car running away from her seriously hot boyfriend who apparently has scared her away by being too wonderful (girl has issues). During her detailed rant about Jake and how great he is but how scared that makes her (ug), the perspective changed twice from first to third person, which must have been an error because it made absolutely no sense and doesn't do it anywhere else in the book. Mid-runaway, Abby is in an accident and wakes up in a weird hospital where she eventually discovers that she's being held captive. She basically becomes a sex slave to her captor, but secretly kinda likes it (for reasons you will discover should you chose to read or listen). There are some major twists and turns, big discoveries, and surprises to keep the reader guessing what will happen next. This was such a short read/listen that I felt that the author could have taken a little more time delving into the dark pasts and thoughts of our characters. The story is mostly told through Abby's perspective until the end where the others' perspectives are introduced. I think hearing their voices earlier would have served to break up the Abby scenes and made it more interesting. The narration was ok. I wasn't blown away, but it wasn't terrible. I think I would have liked a female narrator for Abby's parts more, but that's a matter of taste.

Dark romance at it's best
A little dark, a lot suspenseful and some sweetness all rolled into one. Stella Noir and JB Duvane deliver a tale that is intriguing and keeps you listening. Jake and Abby have the most incredible relationship, and this scares Abby. She runs from the relationship as it gets too serious and has a car accident, landing her in a private hospital. Here she meets the doctor. This is no ordinary doctor. He plans on getting her healed and keeping her as his private sex slave! There are some intense scenes, lots of suspense and wonder of where Jake is!
Logan McAllister is an amazing narrator. He brings each character to life with it's own distinct voice. You hear passion, sadness, craziness and fear in all the right story lines. Definitely kept me listening!

Unique, Dark, Engrossing, and Surprising!
Afraid of getting hurt, Abby breaks things off with Jake and runs where he won’t be able to find her to change her mind! Enroute, a storm, an accident, a strange hospital, and a strangely familiar doctor give her a host of reasons find a way to flee! Dark, engrossing, and packing more twists than a bag of licorice, “The Dark Doctor” not only held my interest, but completely surprised me with one of the most unique plot resolutions I’ve ever experienced! No spoilers! My lips are sealed! I’ll only say that the flow was smooth, once all was revealed I had no unanswered questions, and once I picked my jaw up off the floor and thought about it, it all made creepy good sense! What’s more, it could have happened! The writing, the dialogue, it could have happened! The narration was stellar, adding to the dark, noir feel of the story! At just under four hours, this five star production is perfect for an evening’s listen! I loved it!

Dark with Kinky Bits!
Audiobook - Narration, Logan McAllister, Really Good. He has the deepest, sexiest voice...
Little strange though, because it's a book that is primarily written from the female MC POV - he narrates in his deep sexy voice and uses his quite credible female voices only for female dialogue. Still enjoyed it, but thought that was a little different.
This is one of those books that could easily, and maybe should be re-written into a 9 or 10 hour audio. It comes in at 3:45 and I just wanted more!
Jake is the perfect guy, but Abby isn't quite as ready for love as he is, so she bolts, hits an Elk and ends up in a creepy private hospital. It soon becomes clear to Abby that she's being drugged and the mysterious Doctor holding her captive... is wha?... Jake????
He's decided he's going to keep her - forever - and begins training her in a rather brutal fashion to become his submissive.
So that's all I'm going to tell you or it will just ruin everything.
I felt like it could have been longer, because it seems there was a lot more story that I would have enjoyed hearing - specifically regarding Jakes history. It also touches on the inner desires of Abby while she's being "trained". She starts to develop some sort of dark desires - I say run with it!!!!
Overall, it's an enjoyable listen with some dark, kinky bits and a narrator that has a super sexy voice!

Best Dark Romance Ever!!!
Worth the listen? Absolutely, if you're into suspenseful like, dark romance. Abby was a troubled woman stumbling through her own insecurities. Jake was a gentle giant with his own dark past to face and overcome... The beauty is in the ending... That's all I'll give. Can't wait for more from these authors and this narrator.

Suspenseful
It is very suspenseful almost to the point of confusion because you can't fully keep track of what's going on but once the answers are revealed it will all make sense. It is narrated well, if not a little mechanically. All together not a bad listen.

Just not my thing
Trigger warnings for sexual assault. I knew this was a dark book going in, but it was much more than that. It started off well enough, but quickly escalated to abuse. Anything I felt was hot and exciting quickly soured. The reason for the abuse was explained in the book and I feel like the h didn't get the closure she needed.
