About this listen
A teenage girl enters a carriage in Central Park and disembarks in Victorian England.
Cursed by her sister, Brooke, Alexis Powell arrives in the Victorian era. There she meets Ezra, a man recently murdered by an assassin his brother, Amos, hired. Now he's a supernatural creature, and with a touch Ezra sees into Alexis' mind. Intrigued by her memories, Ezra offers Alexis his help only to be rebuffed for his kindness.
Alexis runs away, but Ezra can't shake off what he saw. He follows her through the streets of London, but, vulnerable after the loss of his father, Amos' harassment, and Alexis' many rejections, Ezra eventually decides to leave her alone.
Alexis is unable to find work and is threatened with starvation. She steals a tomato, and Ezra finds her facing the local magistrate and an angry mob. He fights and pays for her freedom.
Finally accepting the help Ezra offers, Alexis moves into the manor he shares with his brother. Romance blossoms, but the bond between Ezra and Amos is worse than Alexis' and Brooke's. While Ezra and Alexis seek a way to send her home, Amos looks for a way to kill them.

Story
My name is Arianna Spero. I was an ordinary girl living an ordinary life until my mother lapsed into a coma. Now, I am her only hope. She made a deal with the devil, and on my 18th birthday he came to collect. But there's a way to save her. There's something the princes of hell want more than my mother. Me. So I signed my soul away and promised to pick a prince to marry. I would take the blood oath, become one of them, and give them an heir. I would become a princess of hell, and my mother would live.

I LOVED IT!
Where does The Carriage rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I gave The Carraige 5 stars because I was throughly captivated by the story. I felt I was the different characters. The story is well written with a great plot line. Jena Baxter pulls you into the story and it comes alive for you.
Have you listened to any of Melissa Chatwood’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I loved Melissa's narrating. She did a great job potraying the characters and the emotions they felt.
Any additional comments?
I would purchase more audiobooks by Jena Baxter as I was greatly entertained.

The Carraige...
I had a hard time getting into this book, I even started it over twice. I found this story to be confusing and difficult to follow. It is a love story with time travel. At times, I enjoyed the story, but I kept getting lost and having to replay several parts. The author, Jena Baxter has the right idea, but need to fine tune this a little bit better. The narrator, Melissa Chatwood did a decent job on the delivery.
I won this audio book in a book event party.

Different and enjoyable
I listened to The Carriage back to back to another time travel book but each author had a very different story to tell. This story is about a teen girl who gets into a carriage with her sister for a short ride in modern day New York. She ends up in the Victorian Era Paris. Talk about culture shock. The girl who I think was a brat has a rude eye-opening experience. She faces a lot of adversity while there and hoping to get home and meets a young man and a mutual attraction blossoms. I won't say more but I feel she was humbled a bit by her experience and glad it happened to her.
Melissa Chatwood does a great job narrating both the male and female parts.
Interesting story and enjoyable listen.

Disappointing
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I don't know. This, The story is very superficial and unattractive characters. Provide a distration, but isn't a kind of book I'll looking for to listen again in the future.
What was most disappointing about Jena Baxter’s story?
The story promised to be interesting as "Destiny finds her" .... but this book presents characters to just tell the story without involving them really what's going on .
Many elements appear and disappear out of nowhere. There is no logical sequence. Only characters that appear at times to interact with someone and anything more.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I think it is a set of elements that contributed to that I didn't like this book , and certainly the narrative was one of them .
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I find it hard encongtrar something interesting in this book. As I wrote , the story is very shallow , which makes it difficult to pinpoint something relevant .
Any additional comments?
I didn't like this book , but I think each person had to draw their own conclusions about this narrative. For me , this book was just a distraction between the various readings that do.
To say it was a waste of time listening to this book would be an exaggeration on my part.
