Story
Few figures in American politics have seen more and said less than Mitt Romney. An outspoken dissident in Donald Trump’s GOP, he has made headlines in recent years for standing alone against the forces he believes are poisoning the party he once led. Romney was the first senator in history to vote to remove from office a president of his own party. When that president’s supporters went on to storm the US Capitol, Romney delivered a thundering speech from the Senate floor accusing his fellow Republicans of stoking insurrection.

Story
Robert MacFarlane has written that language does not just register experience, it produces it. Our religious language in particular informs and shapes our understanding of God, our sense of self, and the way we make sense of our challenging path back to loving heavenly parents. Unfortunately, to an extent we may not realize, our religious vocabulary has been shaped by prior generations whose creeds, in Joseph Smith's words, have filled the world with confusion. I make all things new, proclaimed the Lord. Regrettably, many are still mired in the past, in ways we have not recognized.

Story
Published in 2008, Massacre at Mountain Meadows was a bombshell of a book, revealing the story of one of the grimmest episodes in Latter-day Saint history, when settlers in southwestern Utah slaughtered more than 100 members of a California-bound wagon train in 1857. In this much-anticipated sequel, Richard E. Turley Jr. and Barbara Jones Brown examine the aftermath of this atrocity. Vengeance Is Mine documents southern Utah leaders’ attempts to cover up their crime by silencing witnesses and spreading lies.

Story
"Whether by design or by chance," Terryl and Fiona Givens write, "we find ourselves in a universe filled with mystery. We encounter appealing arguments for a Divinity that is a childish projection, for prophets as scheming or deluded imposters, and for scripture as so much fabulous fiction. But there is also compelling evidence that a glorious Divinity presides over the cosmos, that His angels are strangers we have entertained unawares, and that His word and will are made manifest through a sacred canon that is never definitively closed."

The Bible reveals not just butterflies and broken hearts. In Scripture, we see God’s beautiful design for the partnership of marriage. We witness friendships that cross all boundaries. We watch as families navigate the many seasons of life. Our guiding example for them all is the deepest, most abiding, foundational love ever known: God’s unconditional love for His people. In The Love Stories of the Bible Speak, Shannon Bream draws lessons from the good, the bad, and the ugly of Biblical romances, friendships, and families.

As the world anticipates its end, we Latter-Day Saints are preparing to build the city of Zion. With so much emphasis on building Zion physically on earth, we sometimes forget the best place to build Zion is within our own hearts. John Pontius carefully details the importance of Zion in our own lives, opening our eyes to our oft-overlooked obligations and vast privileges.

Story
A central feature of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is its pronouncement that there are living prophets. Though a central doctrine, it is nevertheless not unusual to have questions. Packed with stories, explanations, important statements, and sacred experiences, The Last Safe Place shares seven core principles that correct misconceptions about prophets. Understanding these, we are in a better position than ever to teach our children about prophets and why they can trust them. We also find ourselves better able to address questions about living prophets.

Story
A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse - and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of the only gospel that was written in the name of a woman: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

Secularism is increasingly a fact of life in Western society. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that faith is harder than it has been before. Even in the past when organized religion enjoyed more widespread cultural acceptance, there were still obstacles to true belief. Today, the obstacles are different, but faith is still viable.

Fascinating true story!
Jason’s path & experiences are definitely one of a kind. I found myself amazed he continually moved forward seeking what God wanted for him even though it was definitely not the easiest way. I realize that the choices and strength Jason needed to get where he now is certainly wasn’t easy at the time, but looking backward at his experiences, I
see God’s hand and guidance along the way. Makes me think of the phrase, “Let God prevail” excellent listen! I also like Jason voicing his own story because you could hear where certain experiences wrenched his heart, made him frustrated or even laugh at times. Also, I really liked learning about Jewish history, modern day sects, current Middle East issues and his thoughts on how we all should & hopefully one day can, live peacefully together. Great Book! Well written!

Refreshingly Sincere and Thoughful
The path this man took through his search of truth and faith was engaging and informative. I learned of ways to approach and view mine and other’s faith in new, healthy, and inclusive ways. I learned of charitable thinking that expands my understanding of my reality as well as other’s living reality. I learned that the religious history of the world and learning about different ways of sincere worship helps me understand and love my fellow travelers better. Last, I believe that a well told, true life experience such as this is the perfect antidote to the divisive political polarization that is happening in today’s society and will be a mind expanding experience for others as it was for me.

A rare glimpse into a life of godly charity
This is such a beautiful, well-crafted memoir full of insights about a man grappling and navigating a life with layers of seemingly contradictory identities. At its heart, his Jewish heritage colored everything. The author’s deep dive on a religious journey to understand the prophesied Messiah and an unexpected miracle led to a spiritual conversion to Jesus through the Book of Mormon. It’s an intimate story of charity, sacrifice, identity, motivation and love for the living God and mankind. It’s extraordinary to meet such a beautiful soul in a book. Through the author’s generous and candid offering of his own life story, the reader can learn much about the importance of integrity to one’s own beliefs, family, friends and communities showing that the complexity can be held together beautifully through the grace and charity of God.

Absolutely fascinating
The author shares his experience navigating his personal and religious journeys in Judaism and Mormonism; as an American and as an immigrant to Israel. The end came so abruptly I was hoping to learn more about his life as a military chaplain, but maybe the next book will shed light on that chapter. It’s great to hear the authors own voice in the narration, despite the less-than-perfect recording quality. I love the respect for all religions throughout his story. For anyone with curiosity about the intersections of Judiasm and Mormonism, I highly recommend this book.

A TIMELY READ
This was the perfect book for me to read! I loved Jason’s outlook on life and his insightfully written memoir made me want to reach out to those around me—especially those whom I don’t always see eye to eye with and be more accepting and understanding of them. The world could use more of this today! I loved how inquisitive Jason has always been and how he learned so much from those around him. He obviously respects the people he interacts with, and shows us how to do better with that in our own lives. I have recommended this book to everyone! Those that pick it up and read it have loved it also!
