About this listen
I must break the dark curse hanging above me, if I want to rescue the one I love.
Nolan
After finding my sister crouched over our dead parents’ bodies, I had no choice but to turn her in. To numb my pain of losing my family, I drown my sorrows in wine. But trying to escape my life only makes everything worse when two girls, last seen with me, drown. Unable to bear the town’s accusations, I flee my home and seek my fortune as a traveling merchant.
Five years later, I’m forced to return to the city that calls me Bluebeard and accept my count title. My welcome is anything but warm, yet the worst is still to come. When another woman dies after being near me, I know the curse isn’t over.
Desperate to clear my name and stop the murderous curse, I find an unexpected ally in Jolie. To Hamburg’s society, she’s nothing more than a servant in my household, but to me she is a ray of hope. Her warmth and kindness break down the barriers around my heart. Her voice and piano playing entrance me, and her beauty makes it impossible to stay away.
When she becomes the latest target of the curse, I’m determined to do whatever it takes to protect her.
Will I break the curse in time, or will I have to watch on as the woman I love dies?
The Bluebeard Curse is the second book in the Cursed Fairy Tales series. Each book can be listened to as a stand-alone. However, for greatest enjoyment, the novels should be listened to in order.
If you enjoyed The Siren and The Selection by Kiera Cass, K.M Shea, and Melanie Cellier’s work, you’ll love this YA Fairy Tale filled with adventure, love, magic, and a strong heroine!
Buy it now and join Jolie and Nolan on their journey to break the Bluebeard curse!

As the crown princess of Austria, I’m expected to act primly and find a husband, not unleash a curse. Yet that is exactly what happened when I touched a be-spelled nutcracker. Now I must find the magical nut Crackatook, or I will turn into a wooden doll. My father locks me up in the castle, not understanding that I need to be the one to break the curse. Yet with the help of Philip, my best friend and royal guard, I’m able to sneak out. Soon, Philip and I are off to lands filled with mythical creatures, sneaky traps, and complicated riddles.

My name is Sierra Reeves, and my life is built on lies. I’m not a regular girl. My telekinetic powers can flip the precarious balance between good and evil. On the run from those that seek to use me as a weapon, I seek protection from the magic-bearing marshal Gavin McLoughlin. Story
Korede is bitter. How could she not be? Her sister, Ayoola, is many things: the favorite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola’s third boyfriend in a row is dead. Korede’s practicality is the sisters’ saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood, the trunk of her car is big enough for a body, and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures of her dinner to Instagram when she should be mourning her “missing” boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit. Korede has long been in love with a kind, handsome doctor at the hospital where she works.

Dark, cursed fairy tale
A suspenseful story with a little romance.
I wasn't familiar with the fairytale, but enjoyed the story.
My main contention was not quite being able to tell the time period. Modern exclaimations like "no worries!" threw me off a few times.
Told from 3 different points of view, the narrator changed her voice to signify who was talking, leaving no doubt who it was. She also conveyed the emotions well.
I received this ALC in return for an honest opinion.

A Dark Fairytale Filled With Surprising Twists!
If you've read/listened to The Nutcracker Curse, then you'll find The Bluebeard Curse is much darker. This shouldn't have been surprising given the darker nature of that fairytale, but for some reason it did still surprise me. I did actually really like the twist Margo Reyerkerk put on this fairytale--it definetly made it infinityly more interesting. Also, I liked that there were some character cross-over from The Nutcracker Curse. There's also more info on a particular character that wasn't given in the first book. As well as her brand of deadly... read: she's a bit on the crazy side. I also enjoyed the narrator. She really brought the characters and this world to life! Can't wait to listen to the last book in this series!
