About this listen
Struggling to find the words for the talk? Let this parenting book from TikTok sensation Shug CM be your road map for discussing relationships, safe practices, gender identity, and more with kids of all ages.
Known as Shug to her nearly 1 million TikTok followers, Rachel Coler Mulholland has become a favorite voice for parents trying to navigate tricky conversations with their curious and confused children. As a nationally certified counselor with a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, she is the ideal person to write this book, which will empower parents and caregivers by helping facilitate essential but scary conversations with their kids, from toddlers to teens. The book covers a broad variety of topics including how babies are made, dating, safe sex practices, the differences between gender and sexual orientation, and how to discuss consent. It is perfect for caregivers struggling to find the words, and it aims to help navigate the sometimes murky waters of discussions around bodies and sex.
Written in the frank and funny tone of Rachel’s videos, this book arms listeners with applicable skills and accurate knowledge and keeps the next generation of kids safe in an ever-changing world.
Perfect for fans of the How to Talk series or Lisa Damour books, The Birds, the Bees, and the Elephant in the Room is an essential guide for talking to kids about sex and other sensitive topics. Whether you’re parenting teens, toddlers, or anything in between, this book empowers caregivers by providing age-appropriate sex education and advice on navigating difficult conversations around bodies, consent, puberty, and LGBTQ+ issues.

Great guidance that most parents will find helpful
Simple, straightforward thoughts about topics that many parents find hard to broach. Lighthearted scripts and starters to get you going and a positive air throughout the book leaves you feeling as though you can tackle any question that comes your way. For parents of very young who want to create a culture of openness in their home or for parents of tweens or teens who want to get on a better track and create a sense of safety and positivity around sex and sexuality for their young people.
