About this listen

The Dalai Lama's cat is back - older, a bit wiser, and as curious as ever.

In this audiobook, the Dalai Lama sets for his lovable feline companion the task of investigating the art of purring. Whether it's the humorous insights gained from a visiting Ivy League psychology professor, the extraordinary research of a world-famous biologist, or the life-changing revelations of a mystical yogi, His Holiness's cat encounters a wealth of wisdom about happiness. And what she discovers changes the way she sees herself forever.

With a much loved - and growing - cast of characters from the local community and His Holiness's residence, as well as encounters with intriguing strangers and celebrities from far and wide, The Art of Purring will transport listeners in another unforgettable story. Along the way they will come to understand how elements of contemporary science and Buddhism converge. And, once again, they will feel the warmth of compassion and non-attachment that radiate from the heart of the Dalai Lama's teachings about our quest for enduring happiness.

I love these books

I love this series. This book was about Buddhist teachings on happiness, as told by the Dalai Lama’s cat. I love how each book has a very meaningful and important theme for everyone. The only thing I disliked was that this one doesn’t have any meditations at the end, like the previous book did.

A wonderful way to look at life!

I've read all 3 of the Dalia Lama's Cat series an unknown number of time & learn something new every time. Ive learned about mindfulness, happiness, & joy. & how all of these things come from within.

Beautifully read by the author, this book transforms the ordinary world into a magical place ordinarily known only by those who study the dharma and meditate. A MUST read!

excellent

I loved the story and the narration. Hope the author writes more books of the same genre and reads them himself

Soothing sounds to quiet the mind & soul

Beautifully written and narrated, the continuing journey of the Dalai Lama’s cat is a balm to the soul for anyone seeking to clear one’s mind in order to understand the true meaning of happiness. Listening to the wisdom instilled into this small sentient being is turning out to be quite a spiritual experience for me. I’m glad I found this 4 book series.

Great continuation of The Dalai Lama's Cat series

I love this series and have found all three books wonderful. This is Book 2, and continues where Book 1 left off. I adore the author's narration, although in general I don't think authors should narrate their own work. In this case, it works perfectly--I don't think anyone else could do justice to Michie's writing. (I am a bit of a sucker for the British accent, though, which might make me biased.)

The only caution I would give readers is that if you decide to listen to this series, do it in sequence, or you'll miss things you probably don't want to miss. Also, I buy and download the Kindle books and read and listen at the same time. Some books seem to lend themselves to that experience and some don't. In my opinion, these do.

I'm getting ready to listen to and/or read some of Michie's other work, like Hurry Up and Meditate, which I hope I enjoy as much as I have this series. He has a good-sized body of work, and I've just discovered he narrates some books by other authors. I'm currently studying Buddhist meditation in hopes of bettering my ability to meditate, and hope that his books will help toward this end.

Love them all

I started this one out of order a while back and just didn't get into it like the others and then realized there were more books in the series than I knew. Listening now is the perfect moment in my life when I needed them.
I'm more of a non-fiction person and far more a dog person. I'm an animal behaviorist and don't generally anthropomorphize, yet this book felt to me like there was something about it very real. I kept wishing I could Google this Cafe and go meet these people.
I read all of his other books like this except Instant Karma. That one just seems way too made-up for me.
Having hit the end of the series, listened to his other stories, listed to all the cat books again, I am just wishing there was something that could touch me and teach me like these books again.
I've returned to my non-fiction collection, tried a bunch of new stuff- and wasted a bunch of credits. It seems I'm in the mood for more good stories with buddhist inspiration and just stuck in a rut not able to find anything.
The author needs a fan club that offers discussion on similar books or he needs to get busy and write some more.
