About this listen
Our construction process is stuck in the Flintstones, yet we manufacture phones, computers, and electric cars like spaceships. This needs to change so humanity can continue to thrive in the next century. We need to completely eliminate the current construction process and rebuild it from the ground up. It took 20 years of research working in construction, entertainment, and design to invent a quickly scalable solution to begin solving our housing problems. 31 percent of energy-related emissions come from electricity in buildings, and 15 percent come from ground transportation. This project is focused on addressing that 46 percent of our energy-related emissions, as much of it and as humanly possible, with a construction system that’s climate ready, net-zero, and will charge two commuter cars standard. This new project is called TerraForma. We must terraform earth with climate ready, net-zero buildings that charge our vehicles and power our neighborhoods. This is a bottom up solution that empowers normal people to fight carbon emissions, save money, and pursue a new American dream. Big energy has been writing the rules for the 99 percent. The time for change is now.

Story
The grid is an accident of history and of culture, in no way intrinsic to how we produce, deliver and consume electrical power. Yet this is the system the United States ended up with, a jerry-built structure now so rickety and near collapse that a strong wind or a hot day can bring it to a grinding halt. The grid is now under threat from a new source: renewable and variable energy, which puts stress on its logics as much as its components.

Our take-make-waste economy has cost consumers and taxpayers billions while cheating us out of a habitable planet. But it doesn’t have to be this way. The Waste-Free World makes a persuasive, forward-looking case for a circular economic model, a “closed-loop” system that wastes no natural resources. Entrepreneur, CEO, and sustainability expert Ron Gonen argues that circularity is not only crucial for the planet but holds immense business opportunity.

Global demand for power is doubling every two decades, but electricity remains one of the most difficult forms of energy to supply and do so reliably. Today, some three billion people live in places where per-capita electricity use is less than what's used by an average American refrigerator. How we close the colossal gap between the electricity rich and the electricity poor will determine our success in addressing issues like women's rights, inequality, and climate change.

Story
It’s hard to avoid innovation these days. Nearly every product gets marketed as being disruptive, whether it’s genuinely a new invention or just a new toothbrush. But in this manifesto on the state of American work, historians of technology Lee Vinsel and Andrew L. Russell argue that our way of thinking about and pursuing innovation has made us poorer, less safe, and — ironically — less innovative. Drawing on years of original research and reporting, The Innovation Delusion shows how the ideology of change for its own sake has proved a disaster.

The near-meltdown of Fukushima, the upheavals in the Middle East, the BP oil rig explosion, and the looming reality of global warming have reminded the president and all U.S. citizens that nothing has more impact on our lives than the supply of and demand for energy. Its procurement dominates our economy and foreign policy more than any other factor. But the "energy question" is more confusing, contentious, and complicated than ever before.

BIG Idea Solution(s) to Climate-Ready Construction
In this transformative text, author and entrepreneur Jonathan Jackson breaks down the current climate crisis with his eye roundly on a big idea solution — TerraForma™ building blocks — which are modular, customizable and sustainable. Given the ever-present danger of more hurricanes, fires, floods and other 'natural' disasters, Jackson looks to state-of-the-art technology and leverages his background in high-end construction to paint a picture of a sustainable future that transforms 'matchstick' homebuilding as we know it today.
A breath of much needed fresh air, this short book is easy to digest and breathes new life towards solving a big problem that we've heard a lot about but then delves into what we can do to become part of the solution. More of a pitch or 'how to' for sustainable construction — what it is and why we need it NOW — Terraforming Earth is solving the climate crisis and transforming the 20th century construction industry, one climate-proof, modular block at a time.
